I've done both over the years, everything at once or spaced out through the day, so not sure it really matters. However, if I were you I'd do it the other way round and take Hydroxy in the morning and MTX at night.

I think it's a good idea to take medication at the same time every day. I don't think there is any problem with taking MTX at the same time, but if you're unsure, you could check with your pharmacist or nurse. M x

My Consultant advised when I took in MTX tablet form to split the dose 2 with breakfast, 2 with lunch & 2 with dinner & I took 2 x 200mg HCQ, 1 in the morning & 1 in the evening. I don't think there's a hard & fast rule how to take this particular combination of meds & some prefer to take all their MTX at once before bedtime in the hope that they'll sleep off any side effects they may have. I would think if you don't get straight off to sleep if you experience any side effects they could be worse as the tablets would be sitting on your stomach in a lying position though this is conjecture as I've never done it this way. I was advised that if I took them during the day when mostly upright or sitting there would be less chance of side effects.

I'm sure you'll find the way that suits you best & hope they help in controlling your RD.

Hi Chocnbags,

It is worth just giving your rheumatology nurse a quick call to clarify. Failing that you could contact your rheumatologist via their secretary. Your local pharmacist should also be able to help.

Best wishes

Really it's up to you & whatever fits in best with your lifestyle. Did your Rheumy not to through all this with you? Really he should have taken the time to talk you through it all, mine did.

Have any of the replies you've received so far helped?
