Good morning all, i take allopurinal for arthritis, d... - NRAS
Good morning all, i take allopurinal for arthritis, does anyone know if they are of any benefit, are they worth taking?
As I understand it allopurinol is normally prescribed to ward off gout. I've never heard of it being used for RD, so unfortunately can't help. A word of caution, it's common to have skin problems on this. My brother-in-law was on it long term & had problems with an eczema type condition on his hands & feet & as I knew it's best not to use it long term & suspected it was this causing his problem I asked him to see his GP about it. He procrastinated as he feared he'd have an gout attack (think he used it as a crutch). He eventually saw his GP, came off it & hey, guess what, his skin problems have nearly gone in 2 months.
I take allurpurinol as i had high urate levels in my blood when i first had severe swellings n ra syptoms. So was treated for gout, Altho the drs were really baffled as i am not in any of the high risk groups for gout. I was taking colchicine too until dec but urate has been fine since then
