I would be guided by your doctor but if it's just under control and you are still in pain then I personally would be surprised if the drugs stop. Some drugs DMARDS are designed to stop RA attacking your body and modify the disease so these are often helpful to stay on to prevent future problems. But of course ask your Rheumy and I hope your pain settles quickly x

I recently visited my doc and he said that he saw no bone erosion which is great but advised me to stay on my meds as well. I still experience inflammation.

I would certainly ask your rheumatologist and don't stop taking the medication without a clear understanding. It could jeopardise your eligibility for replacement. Best wishes Jo

I'm in a similar situation. Recently came off methotrexate because of liver problems and then I heard that it protects against osteo as well as rheumatoid. I've just started enbrel, but, depending on decision about knee, would have to come off it around the op. But I'm focusing on physio for my knees, trying to strengthen the muscles. Apparently that is important for the success of any knee op.
