Has any one with RA ever had ringing in ear or buzzi... - NRAS
Has any one with RA ever had ringing in ear or buzzing in ear ? Has any one lost hearing ?
There is an autoimmune ear problem, though I can't remember the name of it. As with any other new problem, best report it to your doctor and see what they say.
What drugs are you taking? Some have ringing in your ears as a side-effect - I'm on hydroxy and definitely notice it with that.
Methotrexate has done this for me. It's in my left ear mostly and it's quite loud. When I stopped the drug for six months it almost went away, but came back loud and clear when I restarted it a couple of months ago. Check it out with your GP if it's nothing to do with meds. Angela x
I suffered tinnitus since the onset of RA, eventually culminating in serious hearing loss which happened overnight. I have been referred to a very good hearing consultant, who arranged MRI brain scan and hearing tests. Fortunately I did not have tumour or stroke causing the problems, it was diagnosed as auto immune hearing loss, principally caused by RA. I have been given a marvellous hearing aid which I am trying to get used to, and a tinnitus masker for my 'good' ear. However, my good ear is now starting to make the crackling, hissing noises I had in deaf ear, so I am afraid my hearing will go in this one soon.
I have been hopelessly under medicated by my present rheumatologist and I am waiting to be referred to new consultant in another county.
Ask your GP for referral to hearing consultant for a proper evaluation of your problems. Lynda x
