Hi Deejojo, That sounds awful, have you had/are you going to have a follow-up appointment with the surgeon? Or maybe try calling their secretary to get the surgeon to give you a call to discuss it? I would also try and get a GP appointment tomorrow if you can, or asap - I'm not familiar with the normal healing time for this kind of surgery but I would definitely get it checked out. Take care, Fran x

You shouldn't be bleeding 6 weeks after it. Go back to your GP and insist they figure out what is going on.

I agree with Earthwitch. I was an orthopaedic nurse in another life and your wound should have healed by now. Go straight to your GP where they should swab the wound and send it for analysis. If there are any other signs of infection (ie inflammation, redness or swelling, then they should start you on a broad spectrum antibiotic until the results of the swab are back. Good luck, Clemmie

I agree with barrister, it certainly does not sound correct, and infection needs to be ruled out.

Hope you are phoning your GP first thing this morning? This really doesn't sound right. When I had my arthroscopy I was able to remove the dressings completely after a few days and let it finish healing in the air. If there isn't an appointment available this morning at least ask to speak to a GP on the phone.

Thank you all for your support I think it's because of where it's situated aswell right on the bend of the knee xx

I don't think you should be bleeding 6 weeks after surgery!!!! I had a knee replacement 7 weeks & have healed totally!

You need to see a dr asap!

Let us know how you get on.

I agree with the others, it shouldn't be like that after 6 weeks. I had an athroscopy in October and whilst we do take longer to heal this seemsa good ten days longer than mine. GP should investigate.

Good luck
