Hello
Explain all this to your RA Nurse, sounds like a contraindication.
Good Luck

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I don't have a rheumatoid nurse and my GP is not interested, I just see the rheumatologist every six months,
Hi, you do not say how long you have been taking MTX. Might be worth contacting your GP and arrange an appointment to review your medication especially if this is a reaction to the MTX, although I am surprised it is only in one area, typically with reactions such as itching it would be all over, or localised to where you give yourself the injection and am making the assumption that you do not inject in between your shoulder blades. Also try phoning the NRAS Helpline they may be able offer some advice that may help in the interim. Try calamine lotion, old fashioned I know but it may work. Have someone look at your back and see of there is an obvious sign of irritation
Hope you get it resolved. Itching is no fun

Thank you for your reply. I have been on MTX for 7 or8 years. Sometimes the itch is in different area but none related to the injection sites My husband said there is nothing there only a bit red where I have rubbed it. It was strange last night, at 0400 it was almost unbearable but I did manage to doze off again. Then at0500it had gone! I can feel it may come back at any time. I am trying not to lean against the back of the chair so I don't irritate it. I have used E45 itch relief but it doesn't work very well.
