Well I had an ultrasound hand scan today as at my last appointment they weren't sure what was going on & suspected that my pain was due to a mechanical process rather than Inflammatory or RA, especially as I still requrie a lot of pain even though I am on MTX, Suplha & hydroxy!
Any way the scan was done by a specialist rheumy radiographer - who was superb! She did a comprehensive scan which revealed that I have both inflammatory RA and OA - I have to say I was quite pleased that it proved I am not making it all up (my bloods are negative) & also shows that I am not fully controlled. She also asked if I had problems with my skin, I have, I've reacted to chemical & the sun in the past & have thin skin which is always dry. She told me that I needed to tell the Prof as there are many different types of RA! I'd never thought to mention it and am still unsure why she asked!
I'd had a back xray at the last appt & asked her if she could see the report from it as my back is very sore & I am due to have a spinal for my knee replacement & the drs need to know if a spinal is feasible.
I had hoped that my back was sore due to not walking properly, sadly it isn't & is showing signs of thin bones & compression, she asked if I'd been tested for osteo porosis (sp) I haven't - so glad I've got an appt with my GP on Tuesday!!!
