I had an appointment with my rheumy specialist yesterday, a darlin of a man. I am due to start Abatacept next Thursday. I was really worried as from my googling I didn't think there was anything after this as I have a bad history with biologicals...I have rejected the last three and there are only four that can be given with my type of rheumatoid.
Anyhow he reassured me that there is indeed something after Abatacept if I run true to form and reject this drug too. Now don't ask me the name of the drugs as to be honest I just wanted to know that there was something! I had visions of just being put on pain relief as there was nothing more that could be done for me! Such a relief, I can't begin to tell you.
He looked at y two knees too, which have been ignored I have to say. My right knee is bent almost in half.....I walk like Quasi Moto now. Anyhow he is arranging Physio for me to see if it is too late to get it straight again, if not its a new knee for me. So any words od wisdom regarding that would be very much appreciated.
I can breath easy again....I was just waiting to be told I had come to the end of the road and to be told that I still have a future is such a huge relief as I'm sure you can imagine.
Have to go now.....I foster pups for the local animal rescue shelter and I have a yorkie pup coming today. it seems someone was trying to drowned it and it got away, poor wee baby. I will be carrying it in my arms now until it is rehomed.
Iam so happy today I can't begin to tell you.....I'm spreading it out to all of you.......x

Good to hear that your thoughts were negative on finding out you are able to have other biologics, I bet that was a relief!
Have not had a knee replacement so cannot comment, just good luck for the op when it comes, or with the physio.
Having seen Paul O'Grady last night with his pups I have a picture of you with yours cuddling the whole time. How anyone can do this is incredible to me, if you have animals then you take care of them as you would your children. Having had cats my whole life I known when each of mine have been ill when there have been no physical signs. Best get of my bandwagon otherwise I could go on all night!
Take care, enjoy your pup for however long they are with you. xx
Thanks georgie, Tommy, as I have named him hasn't arrived yet but I have all that's needed in for him. As for the news that there are still other drugs that would suit me if the Abatacept doesnt work out.....it was such a weight off my shoulders. I had visions of me curling into a ball in uncontrollable pain everywhere with nothing but steroids to keep me alive.....it wasn't pleasant I can tell you. BUT, it's not going to be like that, I can still have a life, i am so happy today, even my pain is not getting me down today and wee tommy will lift me too. All the best and thanks for the reply. X
Tommy as it happens turned out to be a wee girl.....so tommy is now Lilly! She is a bundle of joy and never sits still, just like any happy, healthy wee pup. She plays away with Kells, my 10 month old rescue . Barney is my 6 year old rescue and he has become the old man of the house and just sits and watches the young ones playing. Lilly is in her bed now sleeping so I have a minute to go online and see what is happening in the rest of the world.
I am in such great form after seeing my rheumy and getting the good news. I am even arranging a holiday, not for this year but for next. I have a Croatian friend who has a house on the island of Brac and I am arranging to go there for a month next year.....suddenly my life is looking so much better.love to all......
Thanks summer. I don't have a great record with biologicals but I think this one might just be the one for me......Allanah said so.....and who are we to argue with Allanah!
