After effects of consultation.

Well friends it has finally sunk in what happened on thursday. It has been very tiring for me to get an answer. I felt nothing friday, saturday i felt not quite elated but something on that scale. Now i am cross, why should i have to pay to get an answer, why wasn't my leg checked before they put the new joint in. Possible if they checked i wouldn't be where i am today in agony and still waiting for an operation.

I will be writing a letter to my hospital and i will be looking to get my expenses back that i have spent on getting an answer. I want an apology, whether i get it or not is another question. I will try at least.

The good news is i am having a full leg xray on monday and yes we are paying for it with help from our hospital fund, but it won't cover all the costs. The consultants secetary has said i will be sorted out by march/april. I am having the operation on the nhs as we can't afford to have it done private.

I have had a bad night and my knee has been giving me stick today and i'm feeling sorry for myself. My fingers are sore today and i'm still not over the chest infection, still breathless.

Never mind at least it is good news on my knee and hopefully tomorrow i will be more cheerful.

Hope you all i have a good evening.

Well i guess cross is good as it fuels you to get things done Sylvi - so stay cross as long as it's directed at the right people who deserve it and who might at last take you seriously so go with cross please. It was only when I got cross with my GP and then later with the head physio (main person with access to the rheumy here) that things happened for me. Be cross but be measured if you can too.

I'm glad that the positive side of the news is starting to sink in, as long term it would be great to get more mobility. And you should certainly protest about the previous treatment - if you don't ask you won't get. Anyway, hope you feel even better tomorrow. Polly

Hi

Never look back! What's done is done, I say.

I think you have shamed and embarassed them into doing the right thing by you now. Push for the right & corrrect treatment, to correct the mistake made in the past.

If anyone can do it, you can as you proved that you have tenacity - true grit!!!

Good luck and I am sure you can improve your knee!

Take care,

Sci xx

Julie it was the eliot. I have been on at them for 2 1/2yrs now. I will have the op done at walsgrave. I wouldn't trust either of the doctors to do it right when they wouldn't listen to me in the first place. It will march/april time i am led to believe by mr spaldings sectary when bob spoke to her yesterday. It won't be long and hopefully i will on the mend by the time i go to cornwall in june.

Thanks everyone. Sylvi.xxx

You complain and get this sorted!

Glad they will finally be putting it right.

good luck Sylvie hope you get some answers - have you went back to your GP yet?

No mads i haven't,but i will tel him when i do see him. I'm down the hospital next week and i will see how i go about conplaining about my treatment. I'm happy now i got answers. I've just been to bedworth to do some banking for grace and i hate jobs worths. The woman in the bank expected me to count out the money that i was there to deposit and as its all in bags and she told me that i had to fill the form out before she would take the money. Boy did i go off on one. My bllod pressure went through the roof. Why is everything so hard to do and no pleasantries to boot. I can't stand bad attitudes to customers as we pay their wages. Thats my rant for the day.

Will let you know when i have seen my gp and the hospital.

Whew! You are on a roll! Let them have it while you have this frame of mind!

You have every right and cause to write a complaint and send copies to all involved.

Do you know if you can request copies of the surgery summary, should have been dictated by the surgeon, describing exactly what he did?

That would give you the exact information to base your complaint on what he did, or did not, do.

Our medical records have to be made available to us, but I don't know how your gov. deals with that aspect.

I know this is consuming all your thought just now, but once you have written your letter then it's done and you can move on to making plans.

I wish you well, let us know how it goes. Love, Loretta

You needn't loretta i will let you know. I really ought to start and put a letter together. Putting letters together take time and getting it right is essential. Any advice from anyone will be greatly appreciated.I have had to get the copies for the surgeon and it cost me £10 just to get them. What amazes me that a doctor who had never seen me told me straight away what was wrong. I will go and see patient services to see what i need to put in the letter.

It is a great weight off my mind to know i as right al along.
