Without a doubt the weather makes my RA worse. Cold is better for me but I feel it very badly, wet is the worst resulting in lots of aches and pains, in the warmer months the RA is much better but sweltering heat results in super swollen everything! I'm so difficult to please!

Unfortunately my RA is never happy with the weather!! In the summer just like Jo my joints tend to swell more with the heat. Whereas in the winter they ache more, but then again I have lots of metal in my joints which tend to draw the cold (I think so anyway) But I have heard lots say that they feel better in winter.

So hard to please aren't we

mand xx

I would say that this year, I have particularly been bothered by the cold, whereas in previous years it's not bothered me. Really hot dry weather had made by joints aches more than anything. But I was only properly diagnosed in October 2010, although I have had joint problems for about 10 years and in fact had a "slightly" positive RA Blood result about 18 years ago! Just goes to prove this disease is different for everyone and affects us indifferent ways. But I can't stand the cold any more. Does the medication make a difference as it affects our blood?

My RA is definitely affected by the weather but I haven't narrowed it down to what weather yet. I really felt the cold this year too but I also had major problems in the humidity last summer. Don't like the rain either :-(

I think I'll just stay indoors :-)

I havent had problems with the weather yet, but my rheumy says the only reason I am not noticing a differnce is because my RA is out off control at the moment and has been from day one, he says once I get my med combo right then I will feel the differnce but at least it hopefully wont mean I will feel this bad everyday :)

I don't like the cold, or the damp, or the wind, or the rain. But I don't think it affects my RA! I wrap up in the winter so I don't feel it. But I love the summer and that bright orange thing that hangs about in the sky ... sometimes :)

Julie, you have to be particularly careful in the sun whilst on mtx. Gallons of high factor cream needed. It can cause photosensitivity.

I can't say I've really noticed a difference in my symptoms according to the weather - mind you, I guess it's early days, I've only had RA for a couple of years or so so maybe a noticeable pattern will emerge in the coming years....!

Lyn yes I found that out about the methotrexate last year I am a natural red head and being in the sun is bad enough however I had only spent 1 hour in the shade reading a book and

(sorry silly hands) and I was burnt to a crisp!

Needless to say I slap the cream on thick now.
