As I understand it any of the drugs we take may become less effective at some point. Mtx stopped working for me after nearly two years. I've just started on Sulfasalazine in addition to mtx. It's difficult to say how well the combination is working as I had what I now accept was gastro-enteritis as soon as I got up to full dose with the Sulfa, however my inflammation has started to come down again & fatigue seems to be improving.
I'd say contact your Rheumy team tomorrow morning first thing. My Rheumy did allow me to start on Sulfasalazine before my appointment as I was getting desperate so yours may make some interim arrangement for you too - perhaps a steroid injection to tide you over.
But act fast and really lay it on the line that you need help straight away.
Good luck to you with this & with your new job,
Luce x
I think Luce has advised you perfectly - spot on. X
Same with me sort of...was on MTX quite happily but only for about 9 months before I started getting flares again. All was well again once Hydroxy was added in, and then Sulpha. And now the triple combination seems to be effective (fingers crossed). Polly
