Hi, I am 43 years old and suffering from RA. My doctor suggested me to take HRT for my menopausal symptoms. For ra I am taking sulaphasalazine, methtraxate 20 mg weekly, folic acid, sea cod oil and adcal. Please advice me is it safe to use HRT with these drugs and is HRT going to help me with my rheumatoid as well.
Thanks

Not sure if it will help you with your RA, but I am taking HRT and I was taking it alongside MTX, Sulapha, and folic acid, before I changed medication.
I take HRT alongside MTX, Sulpha and Hydroxy. I started before I got RA so no idea whether it helps or not, but my RA is not as bad as some people's so who knows maybe the hormones have helped. Polly
I've always found the pharmacists are really good at looking up and checking for drug interactions. Also there is an online checker at drugs.com that I sometimes use, though it is american, so doesn't always have the same brand names for meds. I wouldn't count on any doctors being fully aware of all drug interactions, especially if you are taking multiple meds, but its what pharmacists need to be experts at.
