I usually drop by before or on my yearly quit mark (October 27, 2007), but I completely forgot this year. Had to use my fingers to count the years that have passed since I've had a cigarette. I see other 8-year alumns posted, too: austinlegro and dubbs47; good job you two! Everyone has their own way of quitting, but for me this board was a lifeline.
I live in Colorado, where we have 14,000 foot mountains. Many of them have hiking trails to the top where the air is thin and not friendly to smokers. They can be quite an ordeal to hike, but the secret to getting to the top is a difficult but nevertheless direct truth: break things down to their simplest and put one foot ahead of the other. Take one step at a time and eventually you will be on top of the world where the view is magnificent and the sense of accomplishment is triumphant. It's worth every step.
I wish all of you the best in your quit.
