Day 3 - Why a Friday?!

Well i'm a chump. Day 3 - the day nicotine finally leaves the body, and its a Friday, with Friday night fever looming. Pretty sure i'm going to have to quit the alcohol for this to actually work or the last 2 days will have been wasted.

Long quiet evenings approaching - on the plus. Atleast the Gym is open late at the weekend...

You chose to stop smoking you can choose to start smoking, but your not going to because your realising how good physically and mentally it is to be quit. keep at it my friend

your doing great, soon be over hell week.

Bless you d0nni! I had a lot of really early nights that first week, - you can so do this :) I think it's definitely worth avoiding drinking or at least being really careful - it trips loads of people up. Drunk-brain just doesn't care so much!

Any minute now you're going to start noticing changes in yourself and I bet you're already feeling quite pleased to have made it to the third day. And hey, you have to face a Friday sometime, may as well get it over with ;)

First, welcome to the forum and I wish you all success with your quit. Going on my experience over the last 3 wks (my quit so far), I would avoid the pub this evening, even with the strongest will I had to pull out all strategies not to smoke after a few drinks, although was actually okay until I returned home, so for me it was the alcohol talking, not the social situation. Another way if you do go out might be to mindfully keep thumping, crunching the demon underfoot and recognising what despicable creature it is. Might be a challenge though if you have to keep that up for several hours at Day 3.

Breathing as if you're inhaling a cigarette can help, but instead of all the muck it's fresh (depending on where you're based) air. I use that one a lot and it works for me.

I chose to quit on a Friday so that first weekend was pure hell. Most of my friends smoke so I either have to become a hermit or accept I cannot avoid smokers. It was hard having a drink with no cig so I went out as usual but drank non alcoholic drinks. 21 days on I do have a glass of wine and I'm fine.

Day three aind on your way to a whole week, that's jus great. We all have triggers, so am liking your plan re alcohol,

Off to a great start, well done you.

Awww I know these early nights are a pain..... I'm still in bed most nights now by 9 since quitting but it's helping, if I'm asleep I'm not craving a smoke! If I have to go to bed at 9 for the next 6 months (which apparently is when everything is great) then I will do it to stay quit and so can you ;) I only wish I had your enthusiasm for the gym :D

So how did you get on last night?

My 3rd day was a friday too & i faced the same quandary as i like going out friday nights

I believe in confronting the triggers head on..... getting thru them makes them weaker & your quit stronger

wont suit everyone but getting the alchohol trigger out of the way was good for me

Not what you're looking for?
