Am on day 8, getting by, but all I think about day and night is not smoking, is it like this for ever? This is taking all my focus and energy. Is this quite normal or am I getting this no smoking wrong, on the patch so cravings not blowing my brains out, but every waking moment is taken up by thoughts of not smoking, struggling on why it is like this. .
Am I always going to have this level of focuss?
It's a bit of a nightmare really..

We've all been there, had dayswhen the only thing on my mind was cigarettes
Day 8 is fab, but it's still early in your quit and it takes time to get used to not having a fag when you used to!!Don't stress it, grit your teeth and plough through!!
I'm 5 weeks quit, and it's already loads easier, have had plenty of triggers that before would have made me Gem the Human Chimney but I've got through pretty easily!! Not bragging in the least, but trying to show it does get easier
What *does* help me is trying to prevent the thoughts getting hold, get busy, get your brain thinking about something else, chew gum, drink water - distraction is the key!!
Yes am going to pop down the book shop right now, never crossed my mind to read any thing, let alone anything on stopping smokng, might be just what I need. Terrible day not smoking, not smoking, not smoking. Gosh so hard. Getting my coat n and off to book shop, thanks again.
Did have a hobby few years ago was into photography big time, think will get my lenses out and go shooting, any thing to pass this terrible feeling .
I think all quitters go through this, the way I get around it is try thinking about something nice. You can only think about one thing at a time, make it your choice what you think about.
Maybe going for a meal what would you have yum yum absolutely anything, but smoking
Hope you're feeling better by the time you read this Tracey
I can't add anything really to everyone else's wise words but just wanted to say I SO understand how you felt when you originally posted. I remember it all too well.
It sounds like a cliche when everyone tells you it gets better (you can get to the point where you want to tell everyone to bog off and shut up) but it really does and it won't be long either.
Glad you're going to get back into photography. That's a wonderful hobby to have and will certainly keep you focused.
Never got to shop, well I say that, was soooooo sick in my car, chicken for lunch, so may be that, but I do know it would have been so much worse if I was smoking.
Thank you all off book shopping tomorrow.
Your all great have got me through a tough day. THANKYOU
Will read tomorrow hopefully feeling slightly better
Tracey don't forget that quitting smoking frees up time that we wouldn't of had as we would of been outside chuffing away, basing a 20 day habit on 5 mins per cig, that's over an hour and a half to fill!
Good plan to get back into your photography I reckon, will definitely take your mind off it xx
