I know that its pretty much normal to have a cough after stopping but I seem to have gone from having a massive hacking cough up in the morining to just a perpetual feeling of having to clear phlegm all day.
Is anyone else experiencing similar and does anyone know how long it goes on for.
Got to admit its driving me mad cos it makes me want to smoke just to stop it (ironic or what)

I quit on the 1st of Jan and I'm still coughing up the odd nasty every so often, especially when I do my c25k runs. It's definitely lessening over time but what I've gathered from everything I've read is that it can take up to 3 months or so to settle down. If you are at all worried though, or if it gets worse or doesn't seem to be improving then do visit your GP for a check up.
Hi Andy..sounds a bit hippyish but try a bowl of hot (not boiling) water with some eucalyptus oil in it ( you can get from boots or holland and Barrett). Put a towel over your head and breathe in the steam. It will help to open up your airways and clear out the crap. It also makes your skin feel nice!! ......:D:D
Must admit that makes me feel happier - Everyone at home says my cough is much better but to me it doesn't feel that way cos its now more low level.
Think I'll lie in a hot bath and try some steam cleaning:):):)
Oh it is annoying isn't it?
Have ended up with an annoying tickle so far with the occasional flare up but know it will come
What helped me last time (when I could hardly breathe for coughing) was Covonia chesty cough mixture - it loosens the muck (well it's designed for colds not smokers but it does the trick) and helps you get it out easier!!
