Stoptober Day 1

Yes yes it's the failure again, be nice or Gemma Lou will get you lol!

Nah in all seriousness, here I b*****y well go again! You gotta love a trier!!

Last attempt failed on a night out, did brilliantly most of the night even stood with hubby when he was smoking and I was grand but then the more drunk I got, the guard came down and I fell down that hole again!!

Need to get my head in that place again but have been encouraged by the stoptober challenge so using an e-cig to begin with.

God let this be the one!!

  • We've all been there so don't beat yourself up too much. I had a good quit going 2 years ago and used the excuse of a non existent crisis to start again. Ive tried again twice since then and now this time. This time is my time, I will NOT smoke again.

When you really want to stop it will happen, lets hope this will be your time.

    Wishing you all the best

You can do it hun, we have all had failures and alcohol has to be the number 1 quit killer!!

Fags and booze go together - or they used to and being drunk makes you careless so it's easily done. we have all been there and done that but you're back on the wagon now which is the imprortant thing :)

Any method you use to keep yourself off the real fags has to be good!!

  • Hi

Good luck and keep strong, im on day 7 with champix its the best ive done yet, as ive always caved in on day 1 or 2 :o

  • keep that positive mindset determination Mrs Mash and will win this battle

if drinking is your downfall perhaps cutting it out or at least down till your far enough in your quit to feel more confident

the fact you havent given up giving up is brilliant so keep it up :)

come on here as much as you can

onwards and upwards is the only way to go

  • Good luck MrsMash09 you can do it!!!!....xxx

  • Hi Mrs Mash, I read through your thread. How are you doing today? I'm on day one and am finding it quite a challenge. I half heartedly signed up here this morning but am so glad I did now. It's been really encouraging. Nearly six hours for me without my crutch. Not long I know but I'm taking it minute by minute literally. Hope you're having a good day, stay strong.

  • They weren't failures Mrsmash, they were practice runs for this, the real thing.

Hello FTF and welcome to the forum. Massive well done on deciding to quit, The early days are the hardest but it really is worth the effort. Are you going cold turkey or using another method?

I'm going cold turkey, it's tough but I'm hopeful. Realising my triggers today....I just had some good news and the first thing I thought of was to smoke so it's not just being stressed that brings on cravings for me.

  • I know exactly what you mean, I used to have a fag as a reward for a job well done, one as a consolation when the job went wrong etc etc. I am full of respect for you going CT and would recommend drinking lots of water, gum, crossword puzzles, 30 seconds of jumping jacks or running on the spot. The water helps flush out the nasties, the gum helps with that god awful taste in your mouth, crosswords distract the brain and the 30 seconds of fast jumping jacks or running are usually enough to puff me out which then takes away the desire for a smoke. Screaming and punching pillows is excellent therapy as well. The joke thread is an excellent diversion too. Keep posting and we will support and encourage you every step of the way. Good Luck :D
