6 Months Smoke Free

Well It’s a new room for me so time to say hello one and all , 6 months tobacco free , its been a roller coaster ride at times but I am still here and have no intention of buckling now. How am I am doing , well although I have beaten the smoking habit into submission I am still using the NRT I still seem to require a crutch. Its probably silly to continue using the gum, I know, I am using 3 or 4 bits a day. I wouldn’t say I am addicted to the gum but I still carry it daily. I did initially use patches and gum but stopped using the patches a couple of months ago now. I chew normal sugar free gum a little also but still seem to need to have something in my pocket as a reserve. Maybe it is time to consider carrying a nicotine spray not with the intention of utilising it much but to break the habit I am on . I don’t need patches probably don’t need the gum but still feel the need for a back-up anyone familiar with my predicament.

Well done on 6 months smoke free Graham. I used Champix so I can't help with the NRT However I am sure that you will eventually stop needing that little back up. You have done brilliantly so a big pat on the back for you!:)

Wow, well done Graham. I'm using champix and for the first couple of weeks I used to "sniff" my other half's tobacco tin, when he gave up I was distraught - I even bought a packet of nicotine lozenges, stupid really as Champix blocks nicotine in the brain so I won't get anything from them - but mentally I just needed a safety net. Anything that stops us picking up a nasty smelly fag can't be bad

Hi Graham..

We are days apart in our quits. Although I quit cold turkey I had little things that helped me...like I cut up straws cigarette size and puffed on them. Eat of a lot of sweets. In fact I was always chewing ! Sounds like you are too.

Why don't you try something like have 2 pieces of nic gum and wean of gradually ?

Keep going 6 months is awesome !
