Yet another curveball -day 10

Well, here I am. Day 10. Just when I thought it is getting better and easier not smoking, I get thrown with another curveball.

Had to go to ER last night. Had excrutiating pain in right knee. I was crying like a little girl. Apparantly I may have Epidural Fibrosis (scar tissues attaching itself to the nerve endings). Started taking Lyrica 25mg last night, 25 mg this morning and will dose up to 50mg tonight. Also taking, Tramacet, Tenston SA, Urbanol (in the morning), Trepiline and Xanor in the evening. With all that, NO PAIN RELIEF! Cannot sleep or lie down. Best position for me is standing! Will hear what my Neurologist say on Tuesday when I go for 6week post op...

I have been travelling between my bed with 7 pillows to the recliner with 4 pillows. Neither helps for pain. Used ice, heat, TENS, nothing works. The only position I have no pain in, is on my stomach, but I'm apparantly not allowed to lie on my stomach.

So yeah, once again I really feel the need more a smoke. Especially at 02:00, 03:00 and 04:00. I am actually thinking of just giving up. To smoke again, just to get through this. It is so friggin hard to cope with everything. Im thinking that if I dont have to worry about not smoking, it is one less thing to cope with, but that is just being counter productive. I made it to 10 days (40 days is you forget my half day lapse), I might as well just go on.

TL/dr - life threw a curveball, I want to quit quitting, but I won't...

Hubby (mario123) is doing great with suporting me and quitting. He still gets sick just thinking about smoking. He does get cranky at times, but it is worth it.

I hope you get some pain relief ASAP and you can at least get comfy :)

You're right, smoking definitely wouldn't help so well done for not caving in!!

Hi LI,

So sorry you are in so much pain, just remember that a cigarette will not make it better, you will no doubt feel much worse for smoking so hang in there! Thinking about you :):) You can do this!!!! x

I am happy to report that LI is not quitting the quit...but more importantly, quitely falling asleep next to me as I type this message - and getting a much needed rest from the post-operation pain (the first time in 3 nights).

The meds are finally starting to work as they should. Its still a long road to recovery and we will take each step as it comes. However, I am very happy that her body can recover without the negative impact of nicotene - bones just do not heal the same if you smoke.

I remain confident that LI will not start smoking again! You go girl:D;):o
