You're doing great Alan, it takes courage to persevere with quitting in circumstances like that - I think I can safely say I speak for all of us when I say you have our utmost respect.

Here's hoping your treatment continues to go well, all good wishes are being sent your way :)

Well said Kathryn :)

Alan

Just read about your treatment, hope all goes well. And I'm sure your body (and the medical staff) will be thanking you for quitting during this unforunate period in your life. It can only make for helping in the healing process being a non smoker. Take care, lots of care.

Now day 16 of not smoking ,and completed 3- of 5 radiotherapy ,taste bud still all over the place thinking of stopping the champix altogether ,been on half dose age for a week now,I feel I am now over the worse ,funny thing yesterday I thought I would have a coffee when I was out ,sat down to read paper and drink my coffee ,and I thought this tastes terable. Carried on drinking it for awhile ,and looked down to see two opened salt satchets ,did I laugh ,good job I only take two I thought, what a prat,I feel quite strong still on giving up the dreaded weed, and well on my way to week 3 ,at least we have had some sun shine the last couple of days ,always nice to get out to do something ,plus it keeps your mind occupied ,thank you all once again, onwards and upwards, all ways look on the bright side of life:)

Day 19 struggle at times but smoke free

:) hi all 3 weeks approach in two more days, struggling at times but still determined to beat it,taste buds are slightly better, having the last bout of radiopherpy today, and then it will be ongoing tests and numerous visits to the hospital, which in itself is a test,it's all that waiting around that gets you,and makes you think about having a cig ,but I will not give in ,the wife is down to 3 a day, she's got her patches and spray,I think she's going for it the end of the week,at least I will be able to help her,if we don't kill each other first,we will put £20 each away per week,£160 per month in a tin ,so we can have a few holidays ,if we ever get a summer, lol, :)

Well done so far, you're doing so great! :)

It takes a strong person not to lean on their usual crutch when things are as tough as they are at the moment, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who admires you for that!

Please tell your wife that she is welcome on here anytime, even if she wants to ask for some advice before she sets a quit date.

Keep up the good work and think about those holidays!! :D

Yes three weeks today

Hi all three weeks without a fag today, now feel I am getting somewhere, the wife has now given up for 2 days,so fair play to her,off to get my champix in a mo ,still on half dosage,it seems to work for me,so one more lot will last a month, and then I'll stop taking them all together, that will be 8 weeks on them in total,I really think that they help, but. It just done my taste buds right in on full dosage ,can't wait till next week the 4 week mark,:)

I came close to having a ciggi

It never rains unless it pours ,our next door neibour ,for the last 20 years ,has been told she has brain cancer, and lung cancer, poor woman ,it really nocked me out of my stride, but I managed to hang in there,my wife who had packed up for 3 days ,had 2 fags,I don't blame her one bit,it's times like this that are really testing,I'm now on 24 days ,and my first month becons, still determined to give it up,started putting £60 per week away ,which I would have spent on fags ,so we will have a few extra holidays.,if it ever warms up,onwards and upwards :)

Hi Alan, you keep digging in, you are doing just great! Absolutely great, so you should be really proud of yourself. That is some saving too. 60 pounds a week will get you a lovely well deserved holiday for you and your wife.:) I am full of admiration for you Alan and I will be watching your story very closely and willing you on!:)
