I know I'm probably being very optimistic that any of my old friends still log on here, but it is four years this week since I stopped smoking thanks to this amazing forum.
Team Monkey Bar-Stewards - are any of you out there?

Wow. You really did break free. Well done on 4 years quit.
No sign of your team yet......but its still early days. I'll be on your team if you like.
4 years......bloomin marvellous.
4 years. That is so fantastic. I want to be you. Well done
Hi I know I am not 4 years but working on it LOL well done you and so pleased that you have taken the time to come on and post.
4 years is a great quit and I am sure that at last you are really feeling the benefits.
Hope some of your quit buddies come on and slap you on the back, not too hard I hope.
How guilty do I feel now?!! I posted and then forgot about it.
Amazing to get some lovely responses - and, yes, four years quit is absolutely possible. I went the cold turkey method - with help from the Allen Carr Easyway book (I even had the mini version that I carried round in my handbag - I even read it in the toilets in the pub when I was having a wobble!).
I've saved around £8,000, probably added at least a year to my life, my asthma has really improved. Heck, I've even taken up running, which at my old age is quite something. I couldn't have done it while smoking.
The other side effect of stopping, that I really love (apart from the guilt, the smell on my clothes, the hacking cough, the stained teeth, standing outside the pub while my boyfriend and friends were inside etc etc) is that my hangovers are not nearly as bad. Less chemicals, I guess.
Hats off to anyone in the process of quitting - God knows it isn't easy. But it can be done. Just stay strong. I'm proud of each and every one of you.
