Is it me or does it take a lot less alcohol to get tipsy when you quit? I only have to have a couple of glasses of wine to feel giddy whereas before it would be the whole bottle.
What do you reckon? Something to do with oxygen again!

Takes more for me too.
Oh..... Just me then!? Weird.
No I'm the same. Ses like I get drunk quicker now. I think it's because I took more of me time drinking a glass of wine as u have them intervals of going for a smoke. Where's now the glass is drunk quicker than before as with me not smoking.
Same as when I go out spent more time in the smoking area nursing a drink and smoking and chatting. Now it's drink me drink in 2 mins flat and back to the bar
Phew, thanks shelley. Thought I was on my own there.
Another thing is that I have always loved red wine but now I adore it. I can get all of the lovely aromas and flavours. Yumsies.

Iv always hated white wine.. Now it's all I drink.. Well apart from this weekend had me rose as felt batterd of a few glasses..
The answer to the question about the alcohol is simple. nicotine and alcohol cancel each other out , thats why we smoke more when we drink and visa versa. to make up for the loss. the same is true for coffee and you might find that the effects are stronger. I read it somewhere in JOELS library.
Mash (geek)
Well I still feel happy on the same amounts but I can now drink a lot more than I could as a smoker without feeling ill.
Also the hangovers far more mild than when I was a smoker. I'm attributing it to a slower metabolic rate i.e. slower adsorption.
Maybe you are drinking it quicker as you're not lingering over a ciggy as well.
Ha jos, yes a very cheap round!
Actually I've gone right off alcohol since quitting. I don't know if it would have happened anyway, maybe it's nothing to do with fags. But these days it only takes a couple of glasses of wine and I have a hangover - I don't get drunk first, which is really unfair. And I just don't like the taste as much as I used to. I have about a glass of wine a fortnight now, if that.
