Welcome to the forum and congrats on making that decision to stop the dreaded weed.
I did take champix and stopped smoking on Day 5 but i also had to see my Quit Nurse every 2 weeks as she told me i had to stop in that time and that she would not give me anymore of the champix until i had stopped as you should be closely monitored when taking them and for me i was only given 2 weeks worth so had no choice. I dont really know what effect that would have if you have not stopped and really from my own experience i would ask your HCP as TBH i dont have a clue and the ultimate aim with the champix is to stop.
Champix alone wont stop you smoking it also takes determination and effort too, they are not a miracle pill so its now down to you really.
Anyhow i would say make another appt and see who ever gave you the prescription and see what they can suggest other than that good luck my friend x
Thank you for your reply. Its nice to hear from someone that has been on champix.
I did a lot of research on the champix before I took it, I had them for 3 months before I plucked up the courage to start the course. Since my last visit on here I have not been smoking in the evenings so I feel good a bout that. Tomorrow the 14th of March is my quit date I quite looking forward to the challenge but I dont think I could give it up without the champx now looking forward to having a life without the fags.
Ps. You must be proud of yourself for giving up the cigis and staying off them well done.
I am on champix too and stopped on day 10 - I also only get a prescription for 2 weeks at a time and have to attend a group session once a week where we sometimes do our carbon monoxide readings. I really didnt want to attend the group but it does help give me that extra bit motivation! I have a friend who stays a bit further out than me and they didnt stop until week 5 on champix!! and they have now been stopped for over a year!
Good luck for tomorrow! You will find others doing there first day on day 1 - is ice to read how others are doing at the same stage
Felt better with you saying that your friend had not stopped until week 5, I am now on my second day of not smoking and am so proud of myself so I am celabrating with a nice bowl of ice cream beats fags any day!
