Hii two weeks :D can't believe i've made it!

I was wonder when everyone thinks it's right to try and cut out nicotine?

I don't want to push myself too hard but i obviously don't want to be addicted to nicotine for much longer

Thanks :)

xx

Hey Strawberry,

Well done on week 2!

how did you stop smoking? Did you use NRT? Are you still using it?

I have stopped before using patches and i never got past the phase of not having to use them so cant really help with that.

This time i have stopped cold turkey:) I think most people on NRT would say you will know when its right for you. Plus if you are getting them from the doctor or smoking cessation clinic they can give you advice! xx

I would say only you can judge when would be right to remove the nicotine entirely.

I personally used an inhaler in the early stages, but after 4 or 5 days, I decided to stop using it. I made sure I still had it on me as a safety net, but havent felt the urge to use it since.

However you decide to do it, as long as it feels right for you, then it's the best way.(well that's my opinion anyway!)

Cheers

Hi strawberry s. love the username :)

I think whatever you feel comfy about, and your right 2 weeks is a great acheivement but not a very long time! Dont rush anything, you wont get addicted to nicotine, not in the way you was with cigarettes that will never happen again, unless you smoke of course, which your not going to do!

As we all know its the habit/memory/routine that is the tough one, and you dont want to replace the cigs with another habit. I can understand that. But always remember nothing is quite as tough as the first week of giving up smoking! youve done 2 of them! so im sure the nrt coming off, cutting down, or wherever ur up too will be easy peasy;). So give yourself a big pat on the back and be proud.

Hi Strawberry, It depends on how much u smoked , heavy smoker /light smoker and for how long.I was a 40 yr chain smoker and i used patches for the 12 wk period. have been nicotine free for 1 mth now but for me it was important to just quit smoking which the patches helped me to do.Using them for 12 weeks allowed me to say no to every crave i got and get used to not smoking . after 12weeks{3months}of not smoking it was easy to quit the patches and the small amount of nicotine in them.

hope this was helpful

Mash...

Thanks for your post, I really needed to read that.. I had smoke for over 20 years, and I no I need the patch. Ive been 2 weeks smokefree, but I will continue to use the patch for as long as I feel cravings, and than hopefully the cravings will go and I will carry on...

Your post was the most realistic post for us heavy smokers..
