Please don't worry! You are only on day 5 of Champix so you are not even on the full dosage yet! When I first started taking it I didn't even set myself a quit date because I just couldn't so I decided to wait and see what happens. But by the beginning of the 2nd week I was starting to get really fed up with cigarettes, I was lighting one, getting halfway through it and having to put it out because I just couldn't stand it! Then on day 10 of Champix I felt like quitting and I did quit for about 49 hours but then smoked again due to losing my temper really badly with my computer But I regretted that really badly and so last Friday I quit again and haven't smoked since So at 12.14pm this afternoon it will be a whole week So don't worry and keep on taking the tablets (as they say!) because if I can get this far anyone can.
So good luck and keep on posting on here as there is always someone here to help.
Don't worry - it will kick in, as Zoe says. As long as you really want to stop, it will help you to stop. It's not a magic pill, but it is very clever..... It's all just building up right now and when the time is right, you will stop.
It's now day 8...was going to stop tomorrow, but don't feel ready.
Still wanting to smoke and still getting some (not much though) satisfaction from smoking. I have cut down and been aware of the cravings...getting some practice in I suppose!
I hope I'm not making excuses for myself....
Seeing the Stop Smoking nurse tomorrow so hopefully will be reassured all is "normal", if ever this could be called normal!
See what nursey says tomorrow, but personally, I wouldn't push it. If you don't feel ready to stop tomorrow, set a new date. Most people manage to stop by day 14, but not everyone. I really think it will happen for you sooner or later. But remember, you will still get some craves and feel odd whenever you finally bite the bullet. The Champix will help, though.
I know this sounds stupid, but I really want to stop at the beginning of a week, not at the end. I think work is a good routine and my colleagues are really supportive. If I stop this Thursday or Friday, I have an empty lonely weekend to face (ahh poor me!!)
I've been reading about the dreaded first three days...perhaps I'm reading too much and thinking too much and haven't even quit yet!!!
All days may be troublesome, got to start somewhere.
Maybe if the meds kick in even more this won't be an issue. I just want to get it RIGHT and give myself the best possible chance.
I can understand that. I don't see any problem with declaring your quit date for next Monday.
If before then, you find yourself wanting to smoke less, and finding it less appealing, well that's fine. But your formal quit would still be at the start of the week.
I actually stopped before my planned date, because I felt ready. I think that whenever it happens to you, you are better off waiting for it, because otherwise you will be starting your quit "kicking and screaming" rather than voluntarily, if that makes sense.
