58 days of not smoking and still going strong.....
Went to see my Doctor this afternoon, and for the second time, he gave me a big hug and said that I had made his day! He seems more worried about me coming off Champix than I am  but after some tough negotiations, we have now agreed that I will go down to half a miligram twice a day, and see how it goes.
I really feel that this quit is different from previous ones. Besides anything else, I feel that I understand the process better. And once again, big thanks to all of you - this site has made such a difference. Seeing the successes and failures, the highs and the lows on here constantly reassures me that this stupid, stupid habit can be beaten.
Truth is, we are all bloody brilliant!

You have done a fantastic job. Isn't it lovely when the doc actually notices and makes a fuss (shame all of them can't be as enthusiastic ).
I know what you mean about coming off the Champix. The nurse says we are going to chat about that when we go back in a couple of weeks as it will be our last prescription (unless we feel it necessary to stay on for a bit longer). I have reduced mine to 1mg a day already mainly because I forgot a few in the mornings and although my crave started to be a bit more than before I could manage it. OH tried but he had a bad day and went back up to 2mg. I think he just went too long and should have maybe taken it mid day rather than wait until the evening. I agree that reducing will be far better than just ending it all together.
Take care and keep up the great work and just remember all the people you are inspiring along the way.
Thanks to you all. It's now two full months - I can't believe it!
Keep telling myself that if I ever, ever go back to smoking after this, then I really deserve everything that's coming to me.
Another thing that helped in a funny way was finding out that each month of Champix costs £54! I have always had a policy of trying not to be a drain on the health service for smoking related conditions because I knew they were self inflicted. If I foul this quit up now, I will also be wasting money that this poor country can ill afford. And that would be selfish, wouldn't it?
Many congrats Mrs T you are so brilliant and give so much hope to people like me at the start of my quit - over 80 hours now Wish my doctor would give me a hug, he is so handsome, "sigh...." But maybe if I don't smoke for 58 days???? Another incentive to stop smoking hee hee
Well done Mrs T!! In the long term you will cost your NHS less by not smoking. Most importantly, you reap the health rewards. I have to pay the €100 per month as in Ireland we pay for medication...but it's still cheaper than smoking a pack a day. a worthwhile investment I think.
