well I made it here, so surprised but proud of myself. Funny thing is every time I think to have a cigarette, out of habit not urge, I just say to myself "you don't smoke anymore" then I smile. Not sure if it's the champix or I found my will, but not risking stopping it.
Still don't know what to do about tonight. Am I ready to go to a smokers house?
OOPS Sorry, it's day 4 not 5. Getting a bit ahead of myself

Look at it this way, smoking has ruled your life for far too long, why let it continue? If you go to your friends house and things get too much go for a walk and get some fresh air or punch your friend in the mouth, whatever it takes to take your mind off smoking.
Imagine how proud of yourself you will be once you have got through this!!:D
Hi Val, hmm this is a hard one. At only 4/5 days this is going to be very difficult to sit in the same room as someone who is smoking.
I think you have three choices
1. Don't go then cigs are ruling you life.
2. Go and try to fight your way through the evening with someone blowing smoke in your face. My son is a musician and I often go to gigs with him. I found when I had not stopped for long (a few weeks) if I stood outside with the ones who were smoking and I could handle it. But what I did find was the next day I would go through withdrawal again, this is something you will have to consider.
3. This would be my choice, tell them you are in the process of quiting, it would be nice if they understood this and did not smoke in the same room as you.
I think by now you should be bragging and telling the world how well you have done to reach 5 days. I don't think you should put your quit in danger at this early stage. If you had been stopped a few weeks like I was then maybe yes. The test might not be getting through tonight but getting through tomorrow.
Either way I hope you get through it, true friends will understand.

Just my thoughts,

Hi Jack, OOPS Made a mistake it's day 4 not 5, how do I correct this?
Thanks again for your wise words! I guess a little part of me doesn't want to brag "just in case" I go back. Although I have made a step I did tell my friend and neighbour today. The reason I don't want to tell them yet is because she is the type she'll call every day and ask how it's going. She's done it when I had panic attacks, even after I told her not to mention them. What can I say some people are well meaning but their way doesn't always agree with mine..
Also after talking for awhile with my neighbour about it, I started to think about it more than I have the last few days. So I think for me at present the best is less said the better. It seems different on this site, since we are all sharing the same experience
Thanks Karri, The night actually went very well. I did end up saying I had stopped and my friend immediately went outside to smoke (bless him). I was quite proud of myself. I don't think about cigs often and when I do it is more the physical part rather than the "urge". Then I just tell myself "you don't smoke anymore" and it makes me smile.
Told hubby that he owes me £25.00. £5.00 for every day non smoking. LOL
Oh I am so pleased to hear that it went well for you. We all worry about upcoming events (smoking related or not) and then when we get there we wonder why we did
I am looking forward to today because I get to make that lovely meal
Hi Debbie, Hope you're doing better today. I'm doing pretty good, had a rough time Friday, but I think that may be because it was the day I started the double dose of Champix.
Went out yesterday into town and did think about smoking because that is what I would do but not from an urge.
Thanks Debbie, glad you're still with it too and doing better. Must say I'm kind of nervous after reading so many things here. So far, I've not been to bad I had some urges Friday or like I said before it could be from the change in the pills. One thing for sure I do take them with food, right after my last bite. Could do without the gas and constipation though, have you suffered from that?

ooh yes. it got worse as i upped the dose and hasnt yet stopped! just think of it as a small price to pay with the end result of all that lovely fressh air (one day!)

hope everyone has a good easter weekend cos mine has now officially begun!:
and unless i have added up wrong (possible!)i might just reach double figures in days tomorrow
I have started taking a muti vitamin since yesterday. There are certain vitamins people do recommend and if you use the search facility you might find threads on it.
I look at it as if I look after my immune system and stop myself getting run down I have more hope of not getting the sad days
Thanks for that Karri. Yes I was thinking about it, I'm sure I need them anyways since i am so bad with fruit and veg
I should also be on the calcium and vit D, but guess what keep forgetting to take them. I'm going to have to focus more!
