I'm currently about 36 hours into quitting and doing well so far
Of all the previous occasions that I have tried to give up I think that the big guy upstairs has given me a massive kick up the bum this time.
Not only have I just had a tooth extraction which you are allowed to smoke after but I have also just found out that I am pregnant!
Determined to quit this time. Managed to fight off any cravings so far. Does anyone have any tips for the next 3 days as I've heard that they are the worst.

Well, never thought of the tooth extraction/get pregnant method but congratulations! Seems like one of the best times to quit as well as reasons.
Some of the best quits have been unplanned - there's no fear or anxiety in the build-up which in 'planning methods' might get you at some point the first 3 days.
Read as much as you can about not just the physical advantages to not smoking but also the emotional ones (they are the biggest ones for me really). Lots of people on here express remorse over the lack of time they dedicated to their children/family because they just wanted to 'nip out for one' for example.
Read people's links at the bottom of their signatures and also Alan Carr might help you.
Eitherway, you'll find your path soon I'm sure
Congratulations again for the baby on the way and your decision to stop smoking.
Sounds like a bit of day you've had! Well done on the quit, bit of a drastic quit method but probably the best reason in the world - the baby that is not the tooth!
Welcome, well done on deciding to quit, hooray for you getting this far, and congratulations on the baby!!!
Phew
As somebody else here said, a lot of us have realised that we are much better parents now we're not smoking. It's not just a health thing (although of course that's hugely important) - it's a life thing. Even though my children never saw me with a cigarette I would often be really impatient with them, even occasionally neglectful, because I was desperate to sneak outside for my fix. I'm a better, more patient mother now.
The craves come and the craves go, you'll have good and bad days. But the thing that will get you through is real, from the heart motivation. And you have all the reason in the world to be motivated!
Keep us updated on the quit AND the progress of the little baby bean
You might feel down, you might feel angry. I got the tunes pumping loud for my mood. 70's disco/funk to make me feel happy cheesy as hell, but also funny.
Angry mood think Rage against the machine or Kelis I hate you so much right now. You have to dance round the room like a loon for it to work. Not only will your mood change you will burn the old calories and feel better for it. It helped me when other methods patches, gum didn't. Good Luck

^^ Totally second that^^
Congrats on your news. Its great time to stop.
Tips, you will see it hear alot but READ READ READ. Most important is to get yourself educated, follow the links in peoples signature, choose your pain in mine is probaly prevalent to you right now.
Post often and come here if you get bad cravings, there is generally someone around to talk to.
Congratulations and good luck. Oh and eat, I guess you will be putting on weight anyway!
Good thinking! Most people worry about the extra weight they could put on when quitting but you'll be delighted cos you're just feeding your baby!! Very cool:cool:
I shall definately keep you all updated on the bump an the quit.
I'm due on bonfire night, which would be nice but as it's my first I have a feeling that it may hold on for a couple of weeks and fall right on mine and hubbies anniversary! Lol!
Day two really not been so bad tbh. I think it helps being in slight pain and having a really uncomfortable feeling in ur mouth. Feels nice to know that there is little to no nicotine floating around my system though!
Just gotta get through work tomorrow now - you may see me on Here screaming and shouting by eleven
Completely off-topic, may I recommend babyworld.co.uk : if you join a group for your due date it's moderated by a qualified midwife, so you can ask questions if you need to. And like this forum, it's really nice to be able to chat to people who are going through the same thing as you. Plus a bunch of special offers, articles etc which may be useful. I know I was addicted when I was expecting my first.

Seconded! lol
I only found babyworld with my 3rd but made friends for life on there. It was so nice to speak to people who were going through the same things.
