Could be Psychological, NRT to strong or you're coming down with the Flu ;)

If the one thing we've all learnt watching each other quit over the last few years it's that most things are normal.

Flames shooting out of nostrils and growing an extra leg are rarely reported but pretty much everything else crops up.

Tiredness, sickness, headaches, stomach pains, depression, insomnia, itching, rashes, bad-breath and total lethargy are very common and vary depending whether the quitter is CT or NRT.

Spend some time browsing the masses of data here on this very forum. Things will improve but it's very easy to convince ourselves they haven't, right up to the point of having a sly smoke to make things better and then disastrously finding they've made things even worse.

Start here, whyquit.com :)

Thanks guys, I intend to have a good read on here tonight whilst my hubby is putting kids to bed!!! I understand it's possible to blame 'giving up' for everything :o

Sounds like you have the flu to me. How do I know this?? YOu just described how I feel, and I do have the flu.

Could be to do with not smoking. I am almost 4 mths in and I still can't be bothered to do the housework (might be cos I just don't like doing it though :D)

Right now you need to just take it one minute, one hour, one day at a time.

And look on the bright side, if you do have flu you won't feel like smoking anyway :D

It's perfectly normal to feel like utter death once quit, i felt like i wasn't in my own body for about a week, on the outside i looked normal and behaved like most sane people but the person in there felt like some sort of confused, ill, deluded, seriously depressed chocolate eating nutter.

I went for house cleaning big time, put music on to distract my nasgging mind etc....... IT DOES PASS and it is so worth it. Drink water get vitamins down you this wqill help alot.

The Possibility of this being cigarette related after just 8 hours is slim, unless you smoked 75+ a day ? :P

It is probably a bug or indeed the flu =) it's January and this is the month of illness lol !

If you are using NRT, it could be that, but leave it a couple of days before you blame NRT because if you have the flu, all the symptoms will be fully out by then lol!

The lack of motivation is expected ... We all get it at different times, some straight away, others a month in, dont let it get you down!

Im 31 Days of non-smoking now! It is hard, but it is possible! If you can make it to 7 Days, then you WILL do it! If you get "down" eat fruit, do some light excorcise, have you got a WII? It's great for getting fit(ter) taking your mind off things etc

GOOD LUCK!!

Hmmm... does sound suspiciously like flu, although as someone else said, all of us at some point have displayed a wondrous variety of vileness, a personal banquet of bugaboos, a symptom salad, if you will. :D

I'd say have a couple of paracetamol and an early night. You'll be able to judge better in the morning.

On the plus side, as someone else also said if it is flu, you won't want to smoke. I was hit by a ten ton truck of flu virus just before Christmas and couldn't touch a cigarette for days, which is what started me off down the quitting road. Every cloud has a silver lining!

Keep on trucking. We'll all be here, no matter what.
