Good morning all

I wanted to share another one of my own little tips that is helping me with my quit and may even help you.

I have never been one for reading but somehow i have now got into it and i am thoroughly enjoying it.

I of course have hardback and paperback books which i buy from Amazon for less than £3 per book including postage but my OH said to me yesterday what will i do with them all once i have read them. It was a point well made and it got me thinking, what will i do with them. So when i was in Amazon i looked at the Kindle E-Reader and it got me thinking that maybe one of those would be a better idea for me. They do apps for android phones, PC's and of course the Kindle itself. Also Amazon sell some books for NOTHING which is good.

I downloaded the App for my android phone, the one i bought with some of the money i had saved from not Smoking and also sent the software to my PC too. My OH has told me to buy the Kindle as a "Well Done For Not Smoking Anymore" Gift From Him and i will have to wait till Christmas to get it, we can all then use it and get books and read when we want too.

What i am saying it that anyone can get into reading by downloading the software from Amazon to your PC if you dont have any other device and enjoy the Free downloads if you dont want to spend out.

Dont forget to join your local library and you can borrow and read to your hearts content. I am getting into the Book Twilight Eclipse, the 3rd one and once i have read that i have the last one too. I am finding it all good fun, it passes the time and you can get so engrossed in them its unreal. I also read at bedtime and now i sleep longer without waking up during the night.

I do hope that this "TIP" helps others.

Good luck all

Funnily enough I used to read more when I smoked! I used to always sit outside on my ciggy breaks and read... sometimes I would just smoke one after the other so I could finish my chapter! hehe.

But you're right in saying it takes your mind off of any cravings... specially the last few twilight books! I read eclipse, new moon and breaking dawn IN A WEEK! I was totally hooked and for that week most of my thoughts we to do with what was happening with edward and bella and NOT a ciggy, it was great! :D

Good tip Jo

To stop smoking i can give one tip is that keep you self busy. You can keep your self busy in any work. You can do that type of work which will keep your self busy. You can also read some interesting books. You should read books on side effects of smoking. It will give you some strength to stop smoking. If you will stop smoking it will good for your health and body also.

I'm not sure about the books on the side effects of smoking. Every person in thee modern days know the side effects of smoking and they still do it. Although I agree with you on the "keep yourself busy" solution. It helps but don't expect miracles.

I like reading as well, but I found that the first days of quitting I can't focus on reading at all.

If you are the happy owner of a playstation 3 or xbox 360 a great way to keep yourself busy is to download and play some games.

It's kept me very busy during my quit, and the great part is, many of the games only cost around 6-8 dollars, so you can look at it as spending the money you saved not smoking on something you enjoy - that's a great motivator right there.

Not what you're looking for?
