"Hello World" Day 3 and a half, plus change!

Hi Guys

Can I just recommend that no one quits smoking in the middle of the day, co's then you'll be confused about the exact day you are on, depending on whether you ponder the question before or after midday :)

I'm doing okay. Was a bit ratty at home this morning and grumpy.

It's amazing, no one at work has actually worked out that I am not smoking. I am keeping it a relative secret, but will say if asked. They continue to take lots of little breaks and come back smelling like rats arses! The thought of sneaking a quick one in has quickly faded, co's while I may be able to fool myself, I sure won't be fooling anyone else.

Was so pleased to see my NHS smoking lady yesterday afternoon. My breath test meter thingy was at 26 when I started the Champix. Last night's count was 2, safely in the range of a non smoker. That's what I am! My brother has confirmed that he will be visiting us in the UK between Christmas and New Year. He has no idea I have quit, and I can't wait to surprise him, he'll be well pleased.

Have a great day everyone! Keep it F-F-F-Fresh!

:)

Hi,

I've done the same thing - didn't mention it to anyone at work until the usual group sent the 'cig?' email at about 11am yesterday (day 3)....i told them straight out, didn't make a fuss out of it, and they were fairly supportive (although one helpful comment of "it won't last, i know you!" made me want to scream!)

Have told my close group of friends now, who are all smokers but have all been full of praise, which has made me realise that actually they all are quite jealous of me - a good feeling to have! I think all of them, in some form or other, have said things like "i wish i could quit" or "maybe i should join you".....who knows, i might've actually inspired others?!

Good luck with your quit and getting through day 3.....you can do it :) EDIT: Or perhaps day 4?! I would probably say that your first day should be the first full day you went smoke free, but even half a day is a massive step in the right direction

I didn't tell anyone that I had stopped, not even my husband for the first couple of days (he worked it out but didn't say anything bless him) as I didn't need the added pressure of 'oh, hows the not smoking going, are you craving' Erm wasn't till you opened your mouth lol. So this time when I stopped I kept it quiet.

Don't worry about being ratty, we all are at a times, even when we smoked.

I am sure when your brother arrives here and see's that you have quit smoking he will be really proud of you.

Have a good day.

Hi Guys and Gals

I never mentioned it this time but people knew anyhow and once they had worked it out or i had mentioned it to them i asked that they dont say anything unless i say something first.

Its been so much easier for me this way as like Levs your not constantly reminded and can shut yourself off so the craves if you were going to get them would go quicker and in some cases not come at all.

LOL

Thanks Guys!

I think keeping it quiet helps to internalise the act of quitting and understanding the addiction for once without outside approval, and no doubt condemnation should we fail. Sounds like an excerpt from 'Buddhas Guide to Stopping Smoking' :)

Anyway, thanks for all the support!
