Sorry it's a bit tough Shellz. Can you try to find a distraction? Go for a walk, have a nice bath, read a book, anything to take your mind off smoking. Do something nice for yourself perhaps, don't worry about weight at the moment, that can be sorted out once you feel more comfortable, but you must try to find something to distract you mind or else you are in danger of eventually convincing yourself that one cigarette won't hurt, which of course, is a complete lie.

Read up about the addiction, follow links in peoples signatures, the more information you can get about the addiction and it's traps will help you. You're on day 2 now, focus on this day, don't worry about tomorrow or the next, think of each new day as it comes. Have you noticed how nice you smell, your hair and clothes, already your getting the benefits of being a non-smoker. Come on, you're on day 2 which is fantastic, don't let the nicodemon spoil your moment, kick him into touch and go do something that makes you smile.

Lorraine :)

Hiya Shellz. Struggle (if you have to) through the rest of the day and when you get up tomorrow you'll be on the third day and hopefully on the way to recovery. Just try and follow Lorraines suggestions and they will help. Never used Champix but I have read that it helps if you take it on a full stomach, either after food or a full pint of water. Do try and get through today and let us know how you are tomorrow. Remember, not smoking will not kill you. David

Hi Shellz

I'm on the Champix too.. day 9 today with my quit day set for tomorrow... I guess I'll probably be feeling just like you in a couple of days... just hang on in there!!!

I found that I need to take the tablets with a meal AND drink at least half a pint of water. I also seem to need to drink far more in general. I'm not a big water drinker in general.... usually far prefer to stock up my liquid levels by way of high octane coffee.... but since starting the tablets I've felt nauseous on and off. I discovered that the trick was to keep drinking lots of water (or water and fruit juice half and half) and it went away. This has resulted in me getting up at least 3 times in the night to go to the toilet but at least it keeps the hunger away (my stomach is always full of liquid!) and I guess it's better for me than a dozen double shot americanos a day!

Well done on your decision to quit, having something to eat before taking the tablet I know does help. But there are some champix queens and kings on here who will advise on that. Reference the weight thing, trust me it is better not to worry about that until you are confident with your quit. And if you can quit smoking, you can acheive anything right? So you will soon lose the weight. Concentrate on your quit, look after it and nurture it...

And be proud :)

Keep posting and good luck

:p
