Well I've decided to give up smoking because I had a really bad cough the last couple of days and literally couldn't smoke! So am thinking it would be silly to start smoking again now :) Have tried giving up a couple of times before but hopefully this will be it!! can't stop thinking about how nice it would be to have a ciggy though while i'm watching the tv...

Hi Fee:)

Well done deciding to stop smoking and a decision you'll never regret

It's normal to think about it a lot in the early stages of a quit but it will get better as you go along Promise

Below is my standard welcome and advice post which I try and give all new members

Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good

You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathising with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad

Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be

This link is good for the psychological part of quittingwhyquit.com/whyquit/A_Sympt...

Post often to let us know how you're doing, to rant, rave have a moan whatever you like pretty much anything goes on here OK

Love

Marg

Welcome and well done for stopping smoking. Any help you need just come on here and ask. There are lots of posts to read for you to identify with and websites to help you understand the nicotine addiction. You will think about them for a while, they were around you for hours every day of the year but it will lessen as time goes on.

Best wishes and look forward to hearing from you as you post your experiences.

Jackie

Sitting is the tricky part for me. As soon as i sit it gets super difficult. Try doing something aswell as sitting watching TV... like knitting. Now, i cant knit... but i'd give it a go if it keeps my mind occupied. Just dont do what i did last night, which was drink alot of wine and eat my body weight in chocolate. That makes u feel ever so slightly icky. I did go for a brisk walk in the freezing cold at about 11.45 though... just because i could. :p
