Well done for getting to day 2 - now you know you CAN get through a day with the evil weed. All you need to do now is not start again!
Having a little grandchild is a brilliant incentive for stopping - I wanted to quit as soon as my sister had her first child last year. I haven't got kids of my own but I completely adore my sister's little boy - I want to see him grow up, etc.
You are only in your forties (as I am) so there is plenty of time for your body to recover and for you to live a long and happy life with your grandkid(s). Remember - the cravings are a nuisance but they won't kill you - whereas ciggies more than likely will.
Read as much information as you can and know as much as you can about your addiction - know your enemy and have some faith in your ability to quit.
You are sooooo welcome here. We are all quitters and all have our own reasons....yours sounds adorable..
Well done on getting through day one, it really is the toughest day but once it is behind you you are on your way. The days add up quickly and then its weeks and you really will wonder how you have got there.
There is loads of advice on here and always lots of support, everyone has a wobble (read posts from 20th Oct in all the rooms we were all wavering, there was somehitng in the air that day) you really are never alone.
The very best of luck Marie, look forward to seeing you in day 3..
Below is my standard welcome and advice post which I try and give all new members
Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good
You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathising with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad
Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them
Here are 2 I found very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be
thankyou everyone for all the replies,, missed having my 1st ciggi this morning when i woke (i always used to enjoy my 1st one of the day) but it soon passed and feel so pleased im on my 3rd day without giving in,,just got back from taking gandaughter to feed ducks,,and feel so happy i can look at her without feeling guilty and saying to her mum im just gonna move away so i can have a ciggi,,lol
i go told a tip on wed at the nhs smoking place ,they said to keep the inhalator warm as it makes it work better,,so tried that and its made such a difference seems like im still getting a smoke when i need one,
