Hi all this is my first day of champix..will be quiting on day 8.well thats the plan anyway lol Im feeling very anxious even before i quit looking at all the horrible side effects people can have from this drug.Is there anybody that has had good experiences with it? I really need this quit to stick...started smoking again in april this year after a 15 month quit going cold turkey.Stupidly started again after a new network off friends that were smokers and going out etc. i cig lead to another..well u know how the story goes lol
This morning i took the pill after brekki and didnt feel sick or ought but have had to try really hard to stay focused today..bit like im on another planet lol I actually liked the feeling if i didnt have o look after the kids and be the taxi driver lol
Looking forward to getting to know u all.

Congrats on getting this far its such a huge step to actually decide to quit and if uv done it before im sure you know what to expect aside from using the champix of course iv never heard of the stuff before reading all these smoking websites for some moral support and every1s on it!
Im going the old cold turkey method myself and only on day2 but feels like forever! im 30mins off hitting 72 hrs and counting down the minutes.
well done jade on day 2!! In my last quit of going c.t i found it easish after 5th day.On day 6 this wonderful calm feeling came over me that lasted for a few weeks.it was so wierd but lovely!I just havnt got the strenght to do c.t this time! Keep with it mate..it will get better and soon u will get that inner calm feeling which is great! Unless it was just me that was loopy lol
i'm on day 2 of Champix and (touch wood!) no side effects. I'm still smoking and as yet can smoke with no difference to taste etc, but it can kick in anytime so i've read on here.
I am slightly nervous when it comes to day 4 and we have to take an evening pill as i take other meds on an evening, so i'm hoping i don't have problems.
good luck with this quit although i should imagine that this time would be easier than going cold turkey...you were braver than i could ever be doing that.
Mum of 4, best of luck. You're doing a great thing here.. don't forget to be proud every day for what you are doing here. this is important to you, and your kids.
We all get some side affects with Champix but they arn' t going to kill you, unlike cigs.
Ive been on them about 17 days now and 11 days of those I haven't smoked.
The only side affect I get is a little nausea after taking it but I believe I could cure that if I ate food first (just lazy ) and weird dreams, but they are getting less now. I also get hot flushes but that could be my age.
So well done for going for it and the best advice is to stay with us lot as it really helps
Please don't be over anxious or nervous about the champix I used it with no side effects at all except for a little nausea with the morning one solved when I took it a little later in the morning and not first thing also eat before taking it and use plenty if water with it
To be sure like any drug it doesn't suit everyone but lots of us on here have used it without problems while in comparison only a few had bad side effects
I hope this helps set your mind at rest about it you may find you feel a little lightheaded/dizzy for the first few days as well but it really doesn't last long and this seems to be so of whatever we choose to use including some who go CT
Below is my standard welcome and advice post which I try and give all new members

Thank u all for the helpfull replies.Well te champix didnt go down too well for me im afraid.I was fine in the house and doing my daily jobs but when it cae to driving which im in and out all day like a yoyo it was not good.I had to concentrate so hard to drive and at 1 point i think i had something like a panic attack.Wierd...everyone else seems ok on it but i soppose we all made diffrent anyway!
Anyway i didt give up..decided to still quit anyway..got the patches.Todayis my first day without a cig.Struggling but been here before and i know it will get better. You just dont know what to do with yourself instead of smoking lol

Thanks bev.Im trying to read everything i can..i need the motivation!
This is my 4th day and god this seems harder than my last quit!! Going mental actully and i jst cant seem to settle.Im using the highest strenght patch that you take off at bed time.My friend saw how jittery i was so she gave me a puff of her inhlaltor that she is using to quit. She loves it and stops her from overeating too.Well here i am with this plastic thing stuck in my mouth desperatly trying to get more nicotine lol
The gud thing is tho im " allowed" to smoke this in the house. never smoked in the house before lol
Such a shame cuz last time i did it cold turkey and i seemed so much easier after the 4th day.....just not got the strengh to do it that way this time.Maybe i will when i have a few weeks under my belt!!
Im even gonna take the damn thing to bed with me so i can start puffing on it as soon as i wake up lololololol
Thank u..i will try my best to keep posting. This plastic inhaltor takes a long time to work i tell ya! Ive been dragging away for an hour now and only just getting "that" feeling lol.............Its sataday night and i do like a glass wine in front of the tele bit its a no no tonight.I soppose thats why i feel worse too cuz i want me wine lol Good luck and well done to all the quitters. It is hard but flipping worth it in the end!
O one more thing about the patch..i have just read that the patch is sopposed to be put on the upper body . Well i have been putting it on my hip cause it keeps coming off my upper arms.Any suggetsions?
Hey mom of 4! Sorry things are a bit hard for you at the moment! I don't know much about nrt's but I assume the patch should be placed on the upper body for better and quicker absorption into the blood stream. If it is working for you on your hip then I'm sure it's fine..... I do believe you're not supposed to put it on the same place on the skin. Stay strong, you are doing really well
