So glad I found this site. I have been looking for somewhere I can speak to others who have been/are quitting smoking and it looks like I found a good one :)

I quit on 21st August using Champix, so I am now on Day 13! I can't say it has been easy at all and smoking still occupies my thoughts much more than I care to admit. It's been an emotional rollercoaster so far but.... I am still here and still quit. Smoked 30 a day and had smoked for 20yrs. I have to do this, it is sooo important.

Nice to meet you all ;)

This forum has many decent and nice folk all striving for the same thing.. to be quit smoking.. and if we are honest.. to quit it for good. (even if that thought might scare some folk)

Welcome to these forums, i discovered this place on my 3rd week quit, and am now 7.5 weeks done and on saturday i'll have gone 2 months (8 weeks).

It does get easier, but the road to getting there sometimes does have the odd pitfall which is all part of withdrawal from this drug addiction to nicotine.

Please do post your experiences good or bad, and read as much as you can handle at any time just to educate yourself on what it is you are giving up and also techniques to deal with any cravings you get (check my signature for a few starter links, and also look in our tips and help to stop forums on here too.

All good info, and if anything registers with you and sinks in to re-enforce your quit, then its all good.

Good luck, hope to see you succeed with this.

Jase

why am i so tearful?

Hi everyone!! Im new here and not sure if im writing in the right place lol, but was after some advice if possible... i quit on aug 21st with champix and it has been going great... few nasty moments but on the whole really good and i am 100per cent sure i owe a lot of it to the champix as i have had numerous failed attempts in the past, been feeling great and really pleased with myself and then the last two days ive been feeling so sad and tearful... its strange... just wondered is this usual at this stage of quitting???? has anybody else experienced it?? or is it likely to be the champix? i have read wicked things about champix but it is certainly helping me and dont want to have to come off, really enjoying not smoking which is weird too lol!!

Well done on stopping smoking.

You will think about them for a while because they were in your life every day all day for many years. I think it's important to read lots about the nicotine addiction so you are informed about what is happening to your body, you will find the web sites in our signatures, sure stops nasty surprises catching you out. Allen Carr's book is also a good read.

Good luck.

Hi and welcome KateUk, tanzypants and atchi.

Jase and Margaret are so right with their advice. We've found that to be successful it's very useful to read up on the various pieces of information contained in each of our sigs. Everyone is slightly different and so if the first or the second site is not your cuppa tea keep looking 'cos you'll find something that will strike a chord with you. And then you'll also find shed loads of good information in this Forum. It's all real quitters experiences and there will be something for you...even if the very act of searching just occupies you for a wee while.

Don't worry about the tears and emotional bits. Sadly we do seem to have to go through some difficult experiences but as all of us successful quitters will state....it's worth it in the end. That end shouldn't be far away especially if you read and educate yourself in your quits. Knowledge actually does shorten the time period of those difficulties. Although having said that Champix users, you do need to watch out with your reactions with Champix. I didn't use it but have heard and read, as you have, that there can be some issues with the drug. Stay alive to that and if required speak to your health care professional.

Lastly, come on line and rant, rave, share, laugh, participate. The site is for you to use and help in your quit.

Keep on keepin' on,

Cav :)
