Help...: Hi my name is natalie, i have been... - No Smoking Day
Help...
Hi Natalie and welcome.
Congratulations on being smoke free for 8 days.
I've been on the Champix for 20 days and quit for 10.
From my own personal experience, the sickness does get better. Occasionally I can still feel a bit "yuk" for an hour after taking a tablet. I was quite bad at the beginning. I mentioned it to the nurse and she suggested taking the tablet after breakfast, which was hard as I never ate it. I now have a cereal bar once I get to work and then take my tablet about an hour later. It's worth a try if you not already doing it. Have a word with your Dr - nothing to lose.
Have a browse round this forum, there is some brilliant advice and people on it, who will know doubt be along shortly to welcome you.
Hope you feel better soon and keep strong.
Hi Natalie
Well done on 8 days that's great but sorry you're feeling sick with the champix
I also used champix without problems a little mausea with the morning one was all
Are you taking the champix with food if you are and this continues go back to your Dr and ask for something to help with the sickness

hi natalie,
ive not advice for champix, but i felt nauseous on patches at first so dont know if it a quit thing or a nrt thing?? anyway well done you 8 days into quit how proud must you feel keep going x maybe seek advice off doctor or nurse about youre nauseous? almost into 9 days now brilliant
but i felt nauseous on patches at first
Yes we all go through that until we find the bit on the instructions that says, 'for external use only, do not eat'
(kidding)
I'm much the same, can't advise u on champix, but looking at other posts i've seen around these forums, the timing of the tablets compared to when you eat is important for quite a number of folk.
'orrible tho, when they thing you're using seems worse than what you are giving up, but in reality, nothing is worse than smoking.
thanks everyone for your advice,
i am eating before my tablets so i duno what it could be. i am going to talk to my doctor. i am determined to quit though so im not going to let it stop me. i love not having the horrible taste in my mouth n choking when i get up, n smelling like an ashtray. xxxxx
You'll be fine i'm sure. The main thing is, you are quitting, and being successful with it. Whatever the pain or discomfort now, its nothing compared to the years of slowing killing ourself on them cigs.
You only need to glance through the forums here to see that many of us are going through some right fair challenges at the moment, but the goal is the same.
You go the docs and see what they say. It may even be just a phase of the quit you are going through, you'll feel better after you've spoken to the docs tho, even if its just setting your mind at rest.
Just be true to your quit, and keep that going, no matter what you endure now, it will be worth it in the long run. You're already seeing the benefits now, imagine in months time
thanks jase, i know every1 feels the same. there a phrase my mother in law always uses, "if it wasnt difficult then everyone would do it" this is so true. ive just had my first cry tantrum, the thing is though i dont even want a cig and havent since the day i quit, i just dont want to feel sickly all the time either.
also, i am finding it very difficult to find a drink (non-alcoholic) that quenches my first and doesnt taste toxic.
just chatting on here does help alot though. so thanks everyone xxx
i love this forum too natalie, keep posting be great to hear how you get on
ps jase never thought of eating patches might get a better hit :):):) food for thought
