Broken sleep is quite normal, it will get easier, ev erybody is different though, some need more sleep once they've quit and the niccotine's gone some need less sleep.
Sorry you are having a bad start to day 3, there are lots of posts about the dreded 3's (3 hours, 3 days, 3 weeks). so just be prepared for what might not be a good day, and take it 1 hour at a time.
If you feel the need say to yourself i will see how i feel in an hour, and then do that again and again and it will pass.
Let us know how it is going and if there is anything we can do.
I've experienced the sleeplessness and mad dreams .. i even had a zombie horror dream the other night that was frighteningly real at the time and i recalled it after i'd woke too where normally i'd have forgotten what a dream was about after being awake.
My problem was i was using 24 hour patches through the night so last night i took my patch off 2 hours before bed and slept really well. First nights full sleep in over a week and today i'm feeling much better for the sleep.
Hope you get over this hurdle soon, but not sure if you are taking any other supplement like caffeine or not before you go to sleep, but can i suggest drinking water in the last hour or two just to see if that helps?
Bloody good start to day three Rab, you didn't wake up to a fag. The sleep should sort itself out. If the snoring is annoying you, start singing "I'm in the mood for love" see what she does. David
The snoring although probably has always been there just has never bothered you before due to you also being asleep, in fact you probably snore worse in honesty.
The problem is that you are wide awake, all you want to do is be back asleep yourself so it just annoys you a bit. I know, i was there the other night in the same situation , and you try sleeping under your pillow even
but yeah, the sleeplessness will pass, i'm sure it will.
Still no smoking , days been no bad hav'nt used the inhaler so much, you've never heard me singing Davie , ive only been in a bad mood once today so things are improving , going out tonight but only one in the company smokes so i dont think it will be a problem
I was thinking about you earlier, remembering my own Day 3 and hoping that yours was going ok so I'm pleased to hear that it hasn't been too tough.
As for going out - you're braver than me, I'm venturing out to the pub for the first time since I quit tomorrow night - and that's my day 8 so have fun and let us all know how easy/hard it was. Personally, for the first time since they brought it in I'll be grateful for the smoking ban
Nice one Rab!!! Day 3 can be a bit of a shocker so hold tight and look forward to getting through it - the ride gets smoother pretty quickly from day 4 in my experience.
Glad your day has been okay. As Writerchris says, let us know how you get on tonight as I also have put off a night out because I thought I would succumb (it was day 1 though).
Am off to a BBQ on Saturday so any tips you pick up tonight on how to get through it, please let me know.
Hope it went well Rab. You reminded me I must add my dreams to my diary - except they all seem to involve chocolate!
The other night I was torn between two big tables, each about 20 feet long - the one on the right was full of chocolate puddings - trifles, mooses, glasses full of ice cream with chocolate flakes and wafers. The other was full of the same puddings but caramel flavour. I couldn't decide and woke up worried!
My night out was alright , we went to an Inn first , met up with other people , one who smoke's, you know what when he went out for a smoke and came back in i could smell it , it was very strong and kinda threw me a wee bit , i must smell like that, because he smoke's golden virgina like me , you know that is only 3 days and for the first time in years i can smell , went on to meet other friends and they could not believe i hav'nt had a cig for 3 days and their not used to seeing me without a fag hanging out my mouth , you know the funny thing i never thought about a cig till i came home and sat at the laptop im never without a fag in my mouth when im on it i think its habit more than anything , hey at least i'll no have to turn my laptop upside down to empty the tobbacco from underneath the keys . So on to another day , day 4 , maybe take my 24 hr patch of to stop me dreaming . see you tomorrow hopefully
Well done on getting through the first "Big Night Out" test! It's encouraged me about going out tomorrow night and surviving. I'm an ex Golden V. smoker myself so you made me laugh with the keyboard/baccy comment
The rate at which your sense of smell returns is mad isn't it! I'm off to the local working men's club (cheap pool and lager) tomorrow, and that place has more people standing outside smoking than it does inside - should be interesting!

thanks everybody for their posts and help

It's interesting when you meet someone who smokes isn't it? I've got a friend who doesn't think she does. I now know differently.
Well done for doing the social thing only 3 days in - very brave.
Went out on first day and sat outside, had to bail when someone lit up at another table.
I changed to a 16 hr patch as couldn't sleep, might be worth considering.
Glad you had a good time, and the fact that you got through the whole evening without bothering about a fag is amazing.
So i'm out tonight, just with OH but still, i'm quite looking forward to seeing people outside in heavy rain smoking, i intend to walk past looking smug.
