Newbie here and I'd like to say Hi to everyone on here.
I popped on last night to read some of your stories and diaries of the stop smoking progress and they really fill me with hope!
I'm on day two of Champix so still smoking at the moment. I haven't set a quit date, my cessation nurse has just old me to aim for sometime between days 8 and 14.
My Father is also on Champix after suffering two heart attacks and struggling for the past 18 months to pack in the fags, he's done it! He's who's inspired me to do it too!
So far, all is ok, no nausea but very vivid, odd dreams!
I'll no doubt be back to chart my progress on here as I am for all my friends and family to see on Facebook too, so I have to succede!!!
Looking forward to chatting with you all!

Well done on the decision to quit the first but very important step
Also well done to your Dad on quitting
Here is my standard welcome and advice post for new members of the forum
Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good
You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathiseing with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad
Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be
Post often to let us know how you're doing, to rant, rave have a moan whatever you like pretty much anything goes on here OK
I always found this forum really good and everyone helpful from the day I arrived here as a newbie there's always someone around to help with any problems or just to support you
Oh - and it was through facebook that I heard about this site, one of my game friends mentioned it after my status update about going to my Drs for help to quit! ~xXx~
Hi I am also using champix, on day 4 but to be honest finding that I can't finish a full cigarette at the moment so things are looking good.
I am also trying to quit again! but I realise that it is only going to be as hard as I allow it to be, so I've worked out how much money I would save in 4 months and if I manage (going to leave the money in the bank) going to use it as the deposit for a holiday for the family!!
Keep up the positive thoughts and hopefully they will be able to help get us thru.
Welcome and good luck I found this place by accident while on my 3rd week, and really glad i did. I'm no expert as a quitter, i may make the odd longish post on here, but i'm a big fan of taking the time to make meaningful posts. I don't mind folk telling me to shush though if i'm over-positive, thats just how i am.
Wish i could share my willpower and positivity sometimes, but if i can achieve that with a forum post, i'll try. I owe it to the folk who give the same back to me, and if just one person decides to try to quit today because of something i've posted then i've achieved something more than i could ever have hoped possible, and although the attempt is then down to them, i'll still be around on the forum here to offer my support n stuff should they want it.
Good luck on your quit , i wish you all the success you want to achieve here, and look forward to seeing you progress through the days, however good/bad the experiences you may have/feel.
