Completely off subject, well kind of - it all effects my breathing apparatus!

When I was pregnant I had horrendoius nasal congestion and used over the counter decongestant nasal sprays for nearly the nentire duration of the pregnancy..

I stopped using them for about a month after Zach was born. Himself then came home with a really congested nose, which I then caught and started using my nasal spray again and have done ever since.

I've been reading up and apparently I have a nasal spray addiction and I'm getting rebound congestion each time I attempt to stop using the nasal sprays.

Basically I have to go cold turkey and just deal with permanent nasal congestion for around 4-7 before I start to see an improvement..

I've just ordered an all natural nasal spray which utilises an extract of cayenne (sp?) pepper.. in conjunction with breath-easy nasal strips and isotonic saline nasal spray (purified sea water) I might just be able to make it through the next 7 days or so in a comfortable manner, before the withdrawal from the nasal spray I've been using is over..

I can't believe it... Clearly this wont serve to help my panic attack/anxiety re. my breathing, but I'll be glad when it's over and I'm off the sprays - I'll never use them again!!

I'm SO mad - they should make them prescription only if they have the ability to cause addiction and dependency after only 3 days!! ARGH!

Hi Emma :D

That sounds a bit off seeling something over the counter that's so addictive

If I get bunged uplike that I put a few drops of Olbas oil on a tissue or hanky and that clears it up and at night a few dropd on the pillow helps as well

Love

Hey Emma! I have been hooked on those twice in the past as well! Never again!! The best solution I found was to use a saline solution which you are planning on doing!! Kinda gross to do but it really does work!! The cayenne spray might burn a bit!

If you have allergies you may want to try drinking 2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar (mixed with water) That can stop the nose from decongesting as well.

Hope you feel better soon!
