After stopping for 14 years and starting all over again with just one cigarette at some party 5 years ago I am now ready to stop again !!! My throat is always dry and sore, my lungs ache, and i feel pretty damn terrible most of the day . Such is the power of this habit !!!
I have tried hundreds of times over these last 5 years to stop and did manage a year and 3 months.. but hey !!! THIS TIME WHEN I STOP NOT ONE CIGARETTE WILL PASS MY LIPS EVER AGAIN !
I am hoping by joining this forum it will give me motivation to have to post every day ..... will need some support i am sure . Tomorrow 01/03/2009 will be the day i quit smoking forever and i know its not going to be easy

Welcome to the forums and congrats on the decsion!
these forums are a cool place,
I found reading and listening to 'allen carrs easy way to stop smoking' helped me into a great positive mindset to stop,
then, hanging out at these forums and in the real world trying to help other willing to quit smokers, so far, is the best method I've ever tried,
Helping others is also how Alcoholics and drug addicts can stay recovered.
I love being a non-smoker!
HI there
What you put about Alcoholics and Drug addicts the best councelling you can get is from someone who has been there and done it. You know i called the NHS Quit Smoking helpline and the lady at the end of the phone although very nice had never smoked a cigarette in her life !!! I terminated the phone call early as i knew she had no idea what i was going through. Its my first quit day today i hope i am able to post later that i am still not smoking !!! Keep Cool

Hi EBTG
I have never phoned NHS quitline just the so-called stop smoking nurses at my GP surgery are enough to put you off there are 3/4 off them all like mini Hitlers talk about giving orders oh boy they caught up with me after 7 weeks quit
only went once turns out never smoked so asked why she considered herself able to advice, her answer I did a one day course in it it's easy to give up I wanted to smack her I think all these nurses should be ex-smokers so they now what they are talking about no course can teach them
