Well I'm now into Week 3 and surviving quite well overall.
I did have a really bad irritating cough which I'd had for a long time, I now know it was due to my heavy smoking as it's a lot better now, it got far worse for the first two days of stopping smoking then gradually started to get better by the day.
I still get the odd sudden urge to smoke a cigarette, but keep telling myself 'no!' Also been eating a lot of sweets to replace the smoking habit - I think it's the habits involved with smoking that I miss the most.
I just wish that I could forget that I ever smoked at all, it would make it all so much easier. Still I guess I shouldn't complain as I am having an easier time than some of the others but some days I feel so down, not ill but just very miserable and sad and what doesn't help any is the discomfort in my legs during the night when I try to sleep, it feels like I want to stretch them all the time. Seen the same problem mentioned before on this forum by others.
Otherwise I'm doing ok

Congratulations to you that's a fantastic effort and I applaud you as I'm sure everyone else would. Without affirming the wrong thing too much, some of us perceive it being tough giving up after smoking 20 p/d for 10 yrs, so your effort is monumental and your sense of satisfaction should be immense. Keep it up, you're free now, breath deeply each day of your life as you can now enjoy it to the fullest...
I think you are amazing!! I just turned 36 and was ready for another quit (one of many) and I realized I had two choices.... smoke until I am old like my granddad or quit and be healthy..... I chose the latter and I am on day 13 (very tough still) and you to chose life when you could have easily said 'what the heck'.... GOOD FOR YOU. My granddad died alone and as I was told he spat up dark nicotine while dying all over..... horrible story. Our friend has NEVER been the cig...... life is. I wish you the very best.
Into week 3 that's great well done you are doing fine glad the cough is getting better even if you are still down at times I know what you mean about wanting to stretch your legs at night I had that before I quit and it got worse for a while I got some of that Ibubrufen gel and it worked so got Dr to put on prescription I rub it in about 15 mins before bed it has really helped me and do not need it every night anymore you can buy it over the counter and if you get supermarkets own brand is the same but cheaper
The week started off so well then rapidly went downhill, caught my hubbys' cold and don't remember ever feeling so ill before or so depressed before because of how I'm feeling - I just knew it was going too well!
Anyway completed the 3rd week without smoking (God knows how!) It's been a lousy week
I hope Week 4 will be better, it can't be much worse!
