Welcome to the forum, Lin.
Please forgive me, but I copied most of this from a post I made a while ago.... but I think it is very relevant to you too.
14 days is really great, Although it may not seem it... the worst is over!
Advice? Firstly, take one day at a time and gradually you will find it gets a little easier. Try not to compare yourself to others, but do take on board their experiences... everyone progresses at a different rate, but most peoples experiences are broadly similar.
The best advice I can give you is to read. Read this forum, follow links to other websites and read those. The more you learn about the addiction, your own "habit" and what to expect as you quit, the greater your chances.
Heres some to get you started...
Practical stuff... I found distraction hugely helpful. I went walking, or came to the forum to moan about things
I also tried to remember 2 golden rules...
1) A cigarette cannot change a situation - the situation will still be the same but you wasted 10 minutes smoking.
2) A crave will go away, no matter what, of it's own accord. You do not need to do anything - it will go away whether or not you smoke.
Drink lots of water to help the body heal and flush out the cr*p. Eat healthy and spread your normal level of food out into smaller portions and eat more often.
Best wishes to you
Hello Lin,
14 days is a weird one. It had me climbing the walls out of the blue, so nothing odd is happening to you at all - in fact you are doing brilliantly! Get to the end of it and then start working through tomorrow...... you will be counting in weeks then - i.e. starting week 3! how cool is that......?? x
hi lin, well come to the fourm,,your in the right place,,congrats on your quit,,post on here any time you feel like a rant or a rave ,you just keep the faith tony
Hi there and welcome,
The best thing you can do is as Stuart has already said is learn more about the addiction, and what to expect while quitting.
Know your enemy. The links in his post and my signature are certainly worth a read.
