Just typed in my stats on the stats thread and whilst doing so, had a thought about all the "firsts" I have achieved since my quit. Thought I'd share them!
Managing to walk past cigarette counter, purchase a newspaper, without being sucked in to buy some cigarettes or even being tempted.
Having money left in my account and purse at the end of the month!!!
Being able to buy myself a new pair of boots for £75 without having to resort to credit card (reward for myself!;))
Not having to stand on the doorstep, like a fool, in this freezing cold weather to get my fix!

That last one really struck a chord with me!
Was driving in town the other day and saw a chap standing outside a restaurant sucking on a cigarette like his life depended on it. For the first time in my life, I pitied a smoker for their addiction and thought to myself "I'm glad I don't have to do that anymore-I'm so glad I've broken free".
The extra money is lovely too-so far I've treated myself to my favourite perfume, 4 CDs and a manicure. Next on my list is a new camera!
Like you, I too can go in a shop and not even notice if they sell cigarettes, whereas before, I would always try and spot my favourite brand and make a conscious effort to see if I 'needed' a new pack.
I'm only in my first month still but I'm beginning to feel that I haven't 'given up' anything, I've just chosen a better life instead.
And isn't it nice to be able to actually "smell" that perfume that you have had the money to treat yourself to?
I bought myself a second pair of boots today (they were a bargain, honest!;)) my DH thinks I am giving up one addiction for another, potentially more expensive one, lol
Can relate to the feelingsof not feeling you have given anything up, I have "thankfully" felt like that from the start (hope it lasts!)
Talking of smell. I like the fact that I can still smell the fabric conditioner on my nice clean clothes for more than 10 minutes before it stinks of stale smoke. YUK.
Had a lady come into work yesterday and I could tell she was a smoker from 20 paces. To think that I smelled like that...oh dear.
