Quit for good - Or have I ???

I have tried many quit tecniques before but none that have been as easy as this new (new to me that is) electronic cigarette device. I have this evening researched all i can about these because they have really made giving up easy. No withdrawals etc just switching from smoking cigarettes to inhaling this vapour and getting exactly the same results as if i had been smoking normally. Has anyone else had any experience of these ??

I really do not want a normal cigarette , nor have any intention of smoking like i have before ever again. I feel already that i have given up for good - Or have I ?? - I am beginning to worry that these supposed NRT devices may indeed be more harmful than the companies selling them might be letting on.

I would welcome any input or knowledge of these before i start recommending them to every smoker i know.

I honestly have no idea if they are dangerous but it seems that you are still fuelling your physical nicotine addiction, and may well be transferring the physiological addiction to the E-ciggy as well, in the same way as some people get addicted to Lozenges, gum and so forth.

Ultimately if you can use it as a means to an end and get off nicotine altogether then I'd say its worthwhile.

But changing the way you see smoking is the best thing you can do IMHO.

The nurse told me at my first visit to the stop smoking clinic, you can inhale a deep breath about 5 times, instead of inhaling a cigarette and it will have a more calming, positive effect than smoking and all it's nasties!!

Quoted for truth.

The only way anyone is going to happily not smoke forever is to not want to.

You are not going to acheive that by using old fashioned "willpower". You are also not going to do that by using whatever product to get you over the physical withdrawals alone.

Changing the way you see smoking, so you don't actually want to do it anymore is the only guaranteed quit method. Use whatever you want to make the physical side easier (NRT, Champix, whatever) but unless your head is in the right place you will either fail or struggle forever.
