thanx for replying grumpyI,m sitting on my bed just now and wot i,m thinking of doing is taking a walk back round to my chemist and ask him if i can go back on the champix or patches that i was getting before i decided i,m not quitting
i allways take my ciggies with me to have 1 as i,m walking to and from the shops ( only 10 mins away) and i have 2 ciggies
so i,m going to walk round there just now and i,m not taking them with me i,m adament i,m going to stop this time
The most important thing in suceeding is that you need to really want to stop - above anything the main aim is to stop smoking, REad as much as you can, Set a quit date, and prepare - I looked at it as thought I were fighting a guy called 'nico' I stop feeding him and he dies, I carry on feeding him and I die, It's not easy, but it does get easier after the first few days, Champix worked for me as it did others on here, but take the time to read and work out what is best for you.
i,ve been in my room for a cpl of hours now normally 3 or 4 cigbeen smoked by then but i have tobacco so all i,ve had is half a roll up which for me is really good
Try and plan you quit, set you date and work to that - get a quit counter - dedicateddesigns.com, but really read everything you can about nico and destroying him

Is there a quit smoking support group in your area? You say you have tried most products, can I ask was there a reason the champix did not work? and di you ever take zyban?

never tried zyban... i dont think there is a support group anywhere near i live
no doubt there will be some in town but it,s hard for me as i,m constant night shift and you know yourself you just want home to bed when your finished
You CAN give up..really and truely it is possible.
Best thing is to prepare as well as you can..read some of the links that people have at the bottom of their messages. FFS - a site from the US -have a programme you can follow. There's Alan Carr also, who can help to get it clear that there's nothing you're going to be missing. Plus all the NRT stuff or Champix, if that's what you need.
You truely are fighting for your life with this one Skinny...so the best of luck with your quit!
thanks for all your replies it,s now just under 20 hours till my time to really quit starts
this morning when i came in from work i had a couple of roll,s on sausage and a cup of tea, i then came up to my room and normally i would have 2 cigs b4 i fall asleep but today i had NONE
i did have half of 1 when i woke up
i really find it hard at work as i can get out to toilet and you can go for a ciggie i have to admit thats wot i did last night but tonight i,m going to leave out the toilet and just stay in work and see how i get on
i remember having some of the symptoms you have, not being able to do certain things without having a smoke.
All I can say is that you CAN be healed. You CAN be a nonsmoker.
It is very difficult to imagine right now but the longer you don't smoke for the better you feel.
You really need to psyche yourself up and understand/know what is going to happen to you as you stop smoking, please use whyquit.com resources - joel and his videos/articles are excellent.
GOOD LUCK dude I really wish you well and really hope you can succeed.
Regarding champix, i know a few people that felt sick on it so they just didn't take the full dosage and stuck with .5mg tabs and took like 3 a day. i know it's not good to go against a prescription but the prescription was for 2 mg a day.
Champix is a better aid to help than nrt especially for you i think. you need that nicotine out of your system, those terrorist nicotine monsters have taken over.
please more than anything never give up and keep trying being smoke free is very very worth it.
I sort of started on champix but didn't take the prescription properly as i don't like tabs, i documented my quit quite extensively. Here's the thread: it might help you get a grasp of what's to come.
did you see your doc? did you get champix or something else? i'm on champix but only took the low dosage pill cos of side effects - if you are, as your name suggests, "skinny"!! u may find taking the lower dosage helps. After 12 weeks, I'm now only taking 0.25mg/day when I remember which is about every 2/3 days..for me it has been a miracle - and along with this forum has allowed me to quit after smoking for 40 years:eek:
