6 Months Done

I used to read posts in this section and be in awe of the posters. Well today I’ve made it 6 months and I’m breezing it.

In those days it was normal of people to ask to have the room prepared or get the booze out. Not really my style of post, but if it was, Id be the quiet one in the corner guzzling Cider that only speaks when he’s got something to say. I also don’t think its really a time for celebration, if anything I now wonder why I smoked for 24 years and am a bit pi$$ed off I did.

I was always led to believe it was nearly impossible to give up, but thanks to Allen Carr my perception has now changed. It’s good to see lots of posters advocating his method (and many similar) on here nowadays and I hope one day his avalanche wishes come true.

I am now fighting a new battle against Hypothyroidism (an underactive thyroid gland). Without wishing to bore anyone it is a condition that leaves you feeling like shite but is treatable by taking tablets for the rest of your life. These however can take a year to take full effect. But because of my “fight” against smoking and all the research I did on the web, I am now educating myself and my doctor on my “new”

project.

I still look in here most days and my advice to people who have just quit or intend to is to make use of this place. Even if you do not wish to post there is so much information and stories of peoples quit journeys to read and help you achieve your goal.

Go on give it a go it’s really not that hard:);)

WTG tomatpots! Sorry to hear about the thyroid problem - I hope that all goes well with the treatment. My brother was diagnosed last year and saw improvements within the first 3-5 months. Some things may take longer than other depending on your symptoms - keep positive.

Best wishes

x

Well done on your six months.

We've both travelled a well worn path like kids in different classes at school.

I suppose we could leap in the air, do a high five and shout annoyingly loudly, "AC Rocks..!!"

...but that would be rather childish wouldn't it....?

:D

Well done you - 6 months! :) Have a cider on me!

Hope you get the thyroid sorted soon too. They say it runs in families, and I am the only one in my family (touch wood!) who hasn't been affected by it.

Mind you, they do say I look like our old milkman

Well done Tomatpots - I raise my glass to you (or I will do when I get home - don't drink and drive) and toast you and all the other six month milestoners. Well done again. xxx

I think we may be so bold

"ALLEN CARR ROCKS"

It seems the strict headmistress who was here when we were in short trousers has left to organize vegetable quizzes??

Whats that all about !!

I think that's just a normal career progression...

student - moans about career progression

student teacher - moans about salary

teacher - moans about kids

deputy head - moans about headmistress

headmistress - realizes poor career choice.

vegetable quiz organiser - raison d'être...

..i think it ends up at WI Victoria sponge assessor...

note: it always pays to master a good jerusalem artichoke impersonation...
