Day 3 and my biggest test yet....

Hi,

half way thru day 3 and haven't had the slightest urge to light up yet! Woohoo...

Today is my biggest test as I use smoke breaks at work to have some time out. Well I used to! I'm doing fine so far, and one of the biggest motivators so far has been the smell of the lad who sits next to me after he's been out for one. My god, did we really smell that bad?!?

I'm using the lozenges and they are really helping. Although my 4 year old being REALLY pleased that I don't smoke any more has made me feel really good.

Well done to everyone who's got this far. Keep it up!

I'm actually looking forward to seeing the nurse at the smoking cessation clinic on friday! :)

I am fine and dandy apart from having to be at work with a stinking cold!:(

Well done Dave - I am sure the nurse will be pleased for you. I got a certificate off mine saying I'm an Ex-Smoker. I think I had gone down to 10 mg patches then. Not on them any more so wonder what she will have to say about that.

Sorry to hear you are poorly Barb - get some hot toddy down you when you get home. Whisky, lemonade and sugar. Helps you to forget you got a cold!!!

Thanks

Thanks for the encouragement everyone.

One thing i've noticed is a tightening in my chest. I know it's normal and is part of the body 'getting better' but how long does it last?

Thanks Smirn.

It's not really bad, just this weird feeling.

Another thing i've noticed is that i don't feel anywhere near as tired as i usually do. I'm not quite ready to go running a marathon or anything but i'm feeling a lot better already. And it's only gonna get better!

This forum is really helpful. I've tried doing it on my own before and failed, but having that extra support is going to come in really useful. So thanks everyone!

I've decided not to worry about the number of lozenges I use during this first week as I think the most important thing for me is to break my smoking habits and recognise my smoking 'triggers'.

I am feeling quite positive about it this time though. Well, better get back to at least looking like i'm doing some work lol.

Thanks again everyone

Brilliant Jan, you're off the NRT ... EXCELLENT :D Its plain sailing from here, I found it so much easier when I ditched the patches, am sure you will too :)

Thanks Cat - even though old nic keeps trying to get me going every now and again I am finding it a lot easier and it helps when you know someone else who has gone through it. :)
