Allergy query

I stopped smoking on 2nd Jan 2008 & seem to have a nearly permanent cold. Could I be allergic to my cats & the smoking has masked it all these years? I have been away for the odd weekend & all sneezes are a distant memory - come back home & off we go again. Has anybody else had this?

hey

sounds like the cats!! i have had 1 cold since quit and it cleared up really quickly, no hanging around for weeks like they used to. Maybe a check with the doc is called for?

I have been quit for 2 Months, 4 Weeks, 10 hours, 47 minutes and 52 seconds (88 days). I have saved £400.67 by not smoking 1,768 cigarettes. I have saved 6 Days, 3 hours and 20 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 01/01/2008 00:05

I've found I got a cold nearly four weeks ago and the remains are still hanging on (I can feel gunk in my throat and I sneeze every so often).

Never normally get colds!

On the other hand, it could be the cats and a patch test would be easy to do...

I think smoking effects us all in lots of different ways and at different times too.

perhaps this wasn't that helpful! Sorry!

I stopped smoking on tuesday and have a slightly sore throad ever since - though I read here that this can happen.

As already recommended you might want to consult a doctor.

Personally I don't think that the smoking has masked an allergy against cats or anything else.

Have you changed anything in your home since you stopped smoking - like new air fresheners - new wahing liquid ....- there are hundreds of possibilities.

I've heard lots of ex-smokers say they get more colds. I have no idea why since smoking is supposed to lower your immune system.

I'd rather have a few colds than the Big C and everything else that goes hand in hand with smoking.

It's probably an allergy to my newly clean house. Don't think it's every been so clean as I have replaced smoking with cleaning. On the other hand it could be a reaction to chocolate, sweets, chewing gum, wine, etc, etc, etc - as you say Sunnyserpent - there are hundreds of possibilities. Oh well, better stock up on the antihistamines.

Because the smoking stopped your body from working properly, it was slowing killing you booo!!!!:(

Could be your body is just starting to recover properly, but maybe you should ask the doc just in case. He may be able to prescibe something to help :)
