Help!

I am seriously considering nipping off to the shop to buy a pack of ciggies.

I've been on the patches for 2 1/2 months now and it's always bothered me about my weight (I've put on 2 stone!) and also the fact that I am still hooked on nicotine because of the patches.

How do I go about getting Champix? As I said, It really bothers me being hooked on "patches". Each day feels like the first day of stopping.

  • Nooooooo! Don't you DARE go down the shops, trust me, you will regret it :(

  • I've done it. And guess what? Thank god I did, because I WILL NEVER take a puff again, utterly disgusting!

I took 2 puffs and nearly puked.

  • ok,, what you done with the rest of the pack??

as for champix, you have to see a quit nurse or your doc.

  • Chucked them out.

Will the doc give me champix? I'm not dissing patches (I'm sure they work great for others), but they're not for me.

I tried coming off the patches for a few days once, turned green and ripped off my shirt. :)

  • Wow, must be something in the air today...

Now you have had a fag chiz, you know that the grass is not greener on the other side...wouldn't catch me doing 'owt like that...

    :D

  • I'm ashamed. Sorry.

Anyone selling any champix on ebay? :)

  • Maddy,

You've not relapsed, you've just had a blip.

You say in your excellent blog that:

I was thinking just now, the question of whether do I want to quit?

Why would you want to start again? Keep going or you'll regret it badly sometime in your later life. I.E: You'll Die young!

Please have a day 25 in your blog as it will not only benefit you, but others too.

Hi Chiz - there is nothing to be ashamed of the way you are feeling at the moment. I am just about to enter 2 months and I slipped after my first week by smoking two cigs both of which tasted bloody awful. I am on patches and have reduced these to 10 mg and like you this past week has felt like the first day of stopping. However, after coming on here and getting the support I badly needed I feel a lot calmer.

Like you I worry about being addicted to the patches and inhalator but I have found that after each reduction a week or so later I can do without the inhalator. Hopefully after the course of 5 mg which I won't be going on for another month I will have been weened off them altogether. That is what I am working towards anyway.

Sorry if I seem to be rambling but what I am trying to say is we have all been the same at some point in our quit and we are all here for you and anyone else who is struggling and I wish you the best of luck in your quit.

    Hope the above makes sense.:(
